Atmosphere:
kinda Vegas like, but not Vegas. Really attractive outside building, esp. at night. However, it does get smoky, which doesn't bother me. But they need to do something about the "stale cig" smoke that permeates the casino. It smells like low class.
Management:
Basically its amateur hour with regard to management. The managers and floor personnel are very young and inexperienced in VIP gaming. Most are likely sowing their oats at Parx in hopes of landing a job at a more prestigious casino in AC.
Biggest complaint:
Almost a complete lack of enforcement on the floor. Nothing is done about the folks using the more popular slots as their personal lounger as they people watch. I've seen management walk right past as some dolt is lounging back with his feet up on the slot machine. I realize to some degree a casino is going to reflect the class of its clientele, but at least try to rope it in a bit. geesh. Tables are not much better in this regard either.
Payout:
Slots are about average compared to Showboat, or Taj mahal in AC, where I also play. I wouldn't call them tight and I wouldn't call them loose.
Summary:
The biggest attraction here is its convenience. Chickie and Pete's has some very good food too.
I will give an honest review of the casino like a few others have and unlike others who lost their bankroll and are upset because they lost $$ in a casino none the less. Parx from an atmosphere point of view is a nice looking casino and, with the exception of a few employees, overall are nice folks. No matter what business you go to there will be bad or rude employees and it is to be expected. Speak up if you have a problem and let it be known. Now to the gaming aspect of the casino. I have played the slots a few times and there are machines that pay and machines that don't. This is typical of any casino and it comes down to the microsecond you hit the button and the number in the RNG at that exact moment. Now for the real beef I have with this casino. I am a craps player and when I play I will play the inside numbers and on a $5 table I will have $22 in action at a time. You will NEVER find a $5 table, occasionally one $10 table but the norm is always a $15 dollar table. I would have to have $66 in action just to play the game at this level. I have driven to Parx 4 times in the last month and walked right back out because of the table limits and they didn't get a dime off of me. The worst is when you check the live gaming guide on the computer and see $15 limits but 56 open seats available. What should that tell the management? The limits are too high!! It is no reason my time is spent at the Atlantic Club in Atlantic City or the Mohegan Sun in Wilkes-Barre. $5 tables are the norm at these casinos even on the weekends!! I get weekly mailers from the Mohegan Sun and got 360 in free slot play in February for my $1800 I bought in for over the 2012 year. Yes 1800 gave me 360 in slot play. The Atlantic club sent me 1700 in match play for the entire month of March. What do you get from Parx?? Nothing, you need to spend 200 just to get 1 point in their rewards program. Every dollar I spent at the other casinos moves me in their rewards program and I get a little back.
After reading all the reviews about Parx it appears that alot of problem gamblers like to play here. You complain when you put in a $20 and aren't rewarded with a jackpot. The funny thing is some people who complain say they keep coming back even after they report the machines are tight! That isn't a problem? Blame the casino, blame someone else because you keep losing... It's always someone else's fault... the machines, the management, the cocktail waitresses.... grow up
We were passing through Philadelphia and decided to stop at the casino. We found it online and pre-registered for our players club card before we got there.
We got there about a half-hour before the club opened on a Sunday morning. A staff member was kind enough to give us our players club along with our bonus shortly before the opening time.
We found that they had most of the machines found in Vegas and other casinos. My wife was lucky enough to win a small profit while i broke about even. The atmosphere was great and all of the staff was extremely kind. we were not there long enough to eat.
If we are in that area again we will make a point of stopping by again. Since we have been back in Cleveland, Ohio we have received a number of offers from them which are as good as any from some of the major casinos.
