More disappointing every time we stay. Air conditioning is apparently not working in the casino, very warm and muggy in here tonight. More machines missing; didn't see Flintstones or Oz, and the entire bank of Empire, etc is gone. Machines are running tight and not paying well; noticeable lack of hooting, hollering, and excitement in the crowd tonight. No surprise here, the ticket redemption and ATM are down yet again; only one of the three are online and operational, and the lines are long. Ashtrays are non-existent, both in the casino and hotel; yet again we checked into a smoking room without any. I am assuming my room and beds are in good order only because I can't see them; only one light works, as the others have no bulbs. Making plans around the advertised monthly promotions and events is pointless: We came over for the Night Owl session, and none of us ever got the bonus game. When we asked the players club about it, the only answer received by my group and numerous other customers was "I don't know, ask the morning supervisor at 8 a.m." Our final outcome was being screwed out of $60-$300 in free play due to "a technical problem", along with everyone else in the casino. Seems "big changes and improvements" went by the wayside at Thief River. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra hour to Mahnomen and save the aggravation until they get it together. Side note for those with kids: The Water Park is currently undergoing renovations and is "supposed" to reopen August 12, 2017; I say that only because the restaurant renovation was almost 2 months behind schedule. I would call ahead before you book to check the status.
Check the payouts on the slot machines. played last evening and if it says a certain combo was supposed to pay 75-1 it maybe paid 25-1. Not much for comps anymore for spending money there. Food is ok. Hotel rooms adequate. I haven't used the pool area but I suppose it would be fun for kids. Complained about the slots lack of accurate payout but nobody cared.
used to go fairly often but probably won't go back. Hankinson or Mahnomen are better options I think.
Games are so tight you cant win. I think thay have players that will do good just to make it
look good. My wife and I go out to have a good time but its not good at thief river falls casino. We live in thief river falls we spend
200.00 each time we go dont do good at all. I have talked to a lot of people thay say thay will not come back
Idont think I am going back in the past we have spent over 5000 and not a thing. Wish it could be better then it is
it was good when it first opened now it is s#*@ with a big S
The slots are very tight, I talked to several people in the casino last time i visited Seven clans Casino and no one was winning. I had traveled there with a group and not one person from the group came away ahead. The smoke in the casino is terrible to the point of gagging at times. Even though we had a non-smoking room there was considerable smoke in our room due to the bathroom exhaust sucking smoke in from down the hallways. The rooms are not cleaned well, even the toilet had not been cleaned on our last stay. I took pictures of the bugs that we found in our room. The front desk people don't seem to care when you bring these things to their attention. Most of the screens are missing or broken on the doors and windows so you can't open the windows for fresh air. The water park is the highlight of the place, but due to the water park there are a lot of young kids there, running down the halls screaming at all hours. If you do stay in the casino late playing slots like I like to do, don't expect to be able to sleep in due to the noise. The food in the snack bar is not too bad but kind of hit and miss. The food in the restaurant is very disappointing with a poor selection and several nights there is no menu only a very limited buffet also the service is terrible.
The potential for this place is great but they need to hire people who care about the place and the people who frequent it.
We come every year to this casino as we enjoy it. The rooms are always nice & clean, the staff wonderful & friendly, but the only drawback is that it is a non-drinking casino. Once in a while it would be nice to enjoy a nice cold beer while playing the slots, pop or coffee just doesn't cut it, but otherwise we do enjoy coming here.
