I've been gambling for leisure for about 20 years. I'm a writer and military gal lucky enough to have lived in and visited a fair number of countries. Therefore I've experienced, win or lose, just about every type of casino there is.

Let me say without question, this corrupt, government-run cash cow should be shut down for blatant highway robbery.

I will echo what others have written, such as the exorbitantly high minimums, alarming number of dealer "misdeals" and all around crooked blackjack, hold em and baccarat tables ... but most offensively are probably the slots, which are far from loose even on the higher end.

I went over the course of a week and lost easily 2000 bucks ... which is insane given my skill at poker (against house and other players) and blackjack. bet low and you'll win. up the bet a bit and lose your shirt. quickly. yes even on penny slots. never saw one person hit a slot jackpot. ever.

people shouldn't have to spend 12 hours in there trying to break even and sadly, many people told me they had.

what a sorry excuse for a casino: mediocre, overpriced food, little to no reward incentives, and drinks that cost an arm and a leg without even being top shelf.

next time you consider Maryland Live! do yourself a favor, take your money and just light it on fire. it's faster. cannot wait for mgm national harbor to open.

shame on you, Maryland Live! shame.

Stay away from this casino. The tables have changed over the past 1.5 years ever since MGM got the green light. It's too obvious that Live is trying to build its coffers in order to prepare for the MGM onslaught. Most of the Asians live in VA and overall I'd expect this casino to lose 50% of its patrons. Staff will eventually be laid off. A couple years ago I could take $250 and either play for hours at a $25 table or leave with $800. I always got up but would stay too long and end up losing. Regardless...I was up.
Fast forward to 2015. $250
Won't even last for 30 minutes unless you get lucky and won the in bet. If you want to win a couple hundred dollars you have to walk in with $2000 of your own money and pray. Tables are stupid rigged to the point even your 20 hand loses or pushes 80% of the time. Thie dealers aren't dealers but magicians. Their favorite trick is o turn 5's and 6's into 21's or just enough to beat your 18' and 19's. Dealers very rarely bust out I've been counting times dealers bust in each deck and it's common magical practice for the dealer to only bust 2-3 times on a 8 deck shoe.
Something's off with both live and horse but now after reading the reviews, it's seems to be a consensus that all MD casinos are rigged big big big time. Dealer pulls a face card like magic each time and if not a face card it the highest card on the table. For example each player will get a 2-7 as the 1st card and the dealer consistently gets a Face, Ace, or maybe a 2. When they eventually get a 5 or 6 just pray you don't have a 10 11,, or two Aces and have to double down. Why do I say that? Because that 5 or 6 consistently gets turned into a 20 or 21. They suckers you to double down so you do and you get a 3-6. The dealer turns over his bottom card and revels another 4-6 and like magic walla!!! 20-21. Each time I go this happens quite a lot. F that!! It happens so much it's pretty obvious that that even with cutting the cards once it gets on track they've pretty much know what your moves will be based off of genus owe they've hired to stack the cards. Only way you will win here is playing with people who play unorthodox. Remember they want you to stay on 12-16 if the dealer is showing a 3-6. Sart hitting your 12-14's and throw that bitch off. You might lose that hand but it throws off the dealers rigged shoe and the table will have better outcomes. If there's 3-5 players it's a guarantee that 2 will lose horribly almost each hand. Normally 1 spot is hitting everything and the 4 th person is going back and forth. If you are the 2 who are losing horribly move. Move to the other side of the casino. By the time that spot starts winning again you will be home and in bed crying. If you are in the slot winning you better stacking up and jump on that. Don't be scared. If you are the slot going back and forth don't move. In fact it's because of you that's the winning spot is winning. Play the minimum on your spot and bet big on the winning spot.
Teamwork? True. Remember someone needs to take those unorthodox hits. It's usually me and I've noticed that if I bust out the everyone else usually wins. Recently though I've noticed that when I hit or should've hit my 12-14's the next card usually gives or would've given me a 21 or 20.
Live rarely bust out when the table sits on their 12-16's so you're better off hitting.
If you want more 'How to win at Live tips' then you need to read this again. I strongly recommend that you stop going to all MD casinos. Better yet stop gambling. I've blown through $200000 easily over the past 2 years. Even though I make $120,000/year I'm homeless and have lost everyone in my life.
Stop gambling.

Their slot machines don't pay..played $5 and $10 slot machines and nothing all night long..from 8:00pm to 3:00am..absolutely nothing..I am not coming back here. Do yourself a favor and don't play any slots at this place...you have no chance to win..just deposit your cash because nothing is coming back to you. Maryland Live is partly owned by the government. MD government takes about 49.25% from slots machine and 33% goes to casino operator. Last month, $31 million dollars on slots. Table games..80% goes to casino operators and 20% profit goes MD government. January 2015, table games grossed at $18 million. This is why MD Live and Hollywood Charles Town is trying get more table games or Live Events.
Now you get it... Politicians knows how to take your money. If you do win, you have to pay more than 35% gambling tax..think about it...either way..Maryland Live has a huge advantages ..don't get trapped into their hype...believe me..at the end, everyone will be losers. Horseshoe in Baltimore is not doing so good and Caesars is going to file for bankruptcy. I stop going to Charlestown and Maryland Live or any Casinos because they all got too greedy with their machines. Sooner or later, gamblers will learn they all took the wrong road. Just save your hard earned money..if you want to blow it...donate to your community or save your money. Not a sermon..Just a thought.

On my first visit to Maryland Live was in September 2014 Labor Day period. I'll never return to this place. I'm attracted to Penny slot machines, and in other casinos I have played, i.e., Delaware, Hollywood Casino in Charles Town, WV or Harrisburg, PA, Atlantic City, NJ and Las Vegas, NV - those casinos have many Penny slot machines that are still only one cent a spin. I walked all over Maryland Live looking for a Penny slot for one line bet one cent minimum bet spins, and they don't exist there. So for 30 cent minimum bet at Maryland live, you get 3 spins and your almost one dollar is gone if you didn't win. You won't last long here and neither will your cash. Goodbye Maryland Live because you are Maryland Dead in my eyes.
