The resort/hotel: my wife and I travel frequently and stay in 4+ star hotels typically. Our room - a standard King in the new tower - was comparable to rooms costing 2-3 times as much throughout the country. Mind you, it's new so the luster is there. It was comfortable, tasteful and had nice technology touches. The view was boring, but that's just what you get in Southern OK. The pools were wonderful and surprisingly well done. We didn't encounter crowds, so that helped. Some of the people by the larger pool were a little trashy, but overall, that didn't impact us.

Casino: all the usual slot machine selections were there. I won a little on a couple, but got killed on most. That's typically my luck though on slots, so I don't know how loose their payouts are. Tables were great if you just get over the $.50 ante. Yes, you're giving up another X points to the house, but for casual gamblers, it's all luck anyhow, so it doesn't matter. We had super friendly dealers and won overall.

Restaurant selections are reasonable, buffet was ok. We aren't big drinkers, but that could be an issue for many. They don't - as of now - serve alcohol on the casino floor. It is smoking, but well enough ventilated that my wife and I weren't bothered. Crowds were minimal on a Monday night stay, and they were a mixed bag. Plenty of players that looked to be blowing their social security checks, but what casino doesn't have those? In general, the people were nice.

For $99/night, I would HIGHLY recommend a stay here. Short drive from Dallas and a fun getaway.

Before you think that I am just a sore loser read this. In other states the casinos are required by law to "wash" all 6 decks together prior to shuffling. This in effect creates a random outcome. At Choctaw and probably Winstar they "wash" 1 deck at a time then shuffle them together. This creates a situation where the small cards stay together. Think about it. Have you been wondering why you lose at blackjack there?

My husband and I have been long time gamblers at Choctaw. We started out playing on the floor in the old casino and never won but one jackpot in a span of 3-4 years.

Then we decided to move to the High Stakes area, well we were even scared to play the $5 machines but we did.....We've won a huge amount of money from Nov-09 to Mar 2010. However within the last 6 weeks machines have QUIT PAYING ANYTHING, NO RED SCREEN, NO GOOD SPINS, MAYBE SMALL DIAMOND OR PRIVATE STRIPES. RARLY ANYTHING LIKE HOT DOG, VALENTINE, GFLAT OR ANYTHING THATS GOOD. Word it that the software has changed in the last several weeks. I advise to NOT go to Choctaw until you hear that the machines are paying. You can put in $1,000 in the $5 machine and get maybe 2 spins. HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!

I read all of these terrible reviews before I went so my expectations were quite low. A friend talked me into going for a day and one night.

Well I loved the place! Stay in the new hotel and the new casino area if you don't like smoky, dark places. The old casino was scary dark, with old machines. I'd been told you win more, but I played $1.00 and went back to the nice new casino. Great lighting, new machines. Noise level very good. You can hear some machines and still have a conversation.

EVERYONE was polite, friendly and helpful. It was spring break, and they weren't prepared. Very understaffed, wait at the restaurants very long. But again politeness and apologies. I'm going back soon. :)

Is it Vegas no? But that might be a good thing. I could sit for a couple minutes at a slot without some staffer thinking I was loitering. It was ok to play slow here.

Went up there on Monday. I became extremely dissatisfied with Winstar and started going to Choctaw. I have spent A LOT of money up there. Before you go up there realize something. They turned over almost all operations other than the casino to outside vendors. So when you run into a problem like I did with the check cashing operation it will take you 4 hours and multiple trips across the parking lot in the rain to get someone to help you....if you are lucky. Most likely you are going to run into two scenarios....you will be told that most everyone in the casino is not a Choctaw employee or you will be told that the person that needs to make that decision is not in the casino at the time.

Then after losing more I just decided that I didnt want to pay for the privilege to be treated like crap so I asked for a self ban form. I have done this before. It removes the temptation to go play somewhere that treated me bad. THEY COULDNT FIND ONE! It took forever for them to find the right form. Then while I was waiting I was told by a security guard that nothing was keeping me here and I should have the self control to not patronize a place that treats me bad. Pretty much telling me that I was less than a person cause I wanted to remove temptation and didnt do it the same way that he did.

They put lipstick on a pig. They open a multimillion dollar casino and didnt have the wrinkles ironed out. They give away their restaurants to outside vendors..ie losing gambling space.

Just keep going to down the road to shreveport or just go to winstar. At least there you know they are jerks and know what to expect.
