I began going to Gun Lake in October of 2012. I at least won a fair amount periodically to allow me to return to have fun. It wasn't so much about the money, it was to take my father once in a while and to have fun. As mentioned, won enough to at least stay a couple of hours and didn't feel like I lost alot. Now, in the past 15 months, I have played ALOT. Cannot win anything. VIP status, Black Card. I get free slot play on my card. It went from $80.00 down to $20.00 now. You could get a free meal to award your dedication to the casino, now they act as though you are applying for unemployment. It is explained to the customers that the machines are set and they have no control over them! Really, then why can't you move machines and find one that might pay a little better. When one machine is not paying (all of the time now) no machines are paying. Coincidentally all machines had paid out the maximum and they all stop paying at the same time? I regret having to stop going there as I do enjoy my time at the casino, but I cannot afford to play at Gun Lake any longer. This is sad that they have to actually ruin a great thing.
There games are set meaning they are set to lose and win on specific days I have a lot of photos of hitting the same thing on a machine on 2 separate days and took picture wasn't paid out the same.
Must say I've played at Gun Lake several times. Each time I leave I ask myself why I went back. The slots very seldom pay out. They are very stingy giving Bonus turns. Even with Bonus Rolls the payout is very limited. To say the slots are tight is an understatement. There is only ONE $5 Blackjack table with lots of folks waiting to play. The casino makes more money on slots so why have more $5 tables, right? The food in Sandhill Cafe is fine. The servers are nice, but it takes a while to get your food. I live in Grand Rapids and Gun Lake is the closest casino. I think driving to Four Winns, Little River, or Firekeepers is probably a better deal if you want to win.
Horrible Payout, I live in Grand Rapids but will gladly drive the extra hour and a half to drive to Soaring Eagle in Mount Pleasant. Gun Lake has Horrible Payout.Might as well just hand your money to the attendant at the door and get back in your car. "Jackpot Capitol of Michigan" What a Joke and False Advertisement.
