MGM DETROIT--LAMEST PROMOS I'VE SEEN, MOST EXPENSIVE BUFFET, STAY AWAY. I MEAN $22 LUNCH; $28 DINNER BUFFETS? AND NOT A STEAK
TO BE FOUND. THE CHINESE FOOD SECTION COVERS 1/2 THE BUFFET SERVING AREA. 80% OF REGULAR/VIDEO SLOTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED IN THE LAST YEAR. THIS MGM MUST BE THE TRAINING GROUND FOR NEW SLOTS. SO IF YOU LIKE NEW SLOTS, THIS IS FOR YOU.
HAVE NEVER STAYED HERE SINCE I LIVE 20 MILES AWAY. IT'S A GIGANTIC CASINO, DETROIT'S LARGEST AND MAYBE 4-5 YEARS OLD. ROOM RATES
AROUND $299--AT LEAST IT AIN'T $300. PAY FOR DRINKS.

Huge selection of slot machines: newer titles/themes and the pennies have invaded! Yet there's a good mix on the game floor. Large number of VP machines, too. A very Vegas Strip casino atmosphere. Ticket redemption machines do NOT have Multi-ticket acceptance!!! Table games seem steady - I have always felt welcomed by dealers. Self-serve beverage stations are rarely neat/clean. And MORE are needed as floor beverage service is slow, lacking, and poor. Players Club personnel are professional, but not very hospitable/warm. The tiny, non-smoking slot room is always too warm, and there are several areas of the gaming floor that are ALWAYS freezing. Long wait for Slot Attendant and hand-pays. Cage personnel are always friendly and professional. Better selection of restaurants in this property, but $$$$$. Food court is open almost all night - huge plus for overnight gamblers! Long lines are not uncommon at the Buffet. Smokey here throughout the game floor, but seems to have better air circulation than the other Detroit casinos. Hotel rooms are too expensive for Detroit - (this is NOT the Wynn or Bellagio!) It would be nice to be able to stay here sometime, but given the choice of spending hundreds on a room or at the slots, the slots always over-rule! Plus, I have NEVER received an affordable discounted rate offer or comped night, (nor do I ever expect to!) You don't need to be a hotel guest to use the Spa facilities or indoor pool and there's an affordable day-rate. Electric Scooters are available for use by the mobility-impaired, a very nice amenity, but more scooters need to be available. Have had mixed gambling results but most of my "big win" nights have been here!

It's the nicest looking casino in Detroit. It's only one story, but it feels pretty open and spacious. If you play penny slots then this would not be the place for you. Hardly any penny slots to play. Table minimums are very high like every other casino in Detroit. Greektown is actually in a better area of Detroit then MGM is for those people who actually know Detroit. They tried to make this MGM feel like the Vegas MGM, but didn't do a great job at it. Casino does feel alive especially on the weekends. Employees aren't very nice much like the rest of the Detroit casinos. Food selection isn't that good and is expensive. Players card is good except it's for the MGM-Mirage chain.

Its oct 11 2010, I just spent the weekend of the 8th-10th in detroit to gamble. Of all the casinos this is the best, I only play tables to count cards or play craps but its the best crowd, biggest casino, most low limit table action and the blackjack would be great without 6-5 payoff. I stayed at greektown casino, and the crowd there was nice but it was hood. Really hood, motor city was just full of "donkeys". I won few hundred at the craps table in greektown but MGM offered better games nicer tables the staff was a little rude compared to greektown. If you are going to gamble stay here if you want a very nice room for cheap and stuff to walk to restaurants, few shops, bar, 2 dance clubs and strip club stay at greektown.

Clearly, this is the best casino in Detroit. Best buffet, best restaurants, best staff. But it is still a Detroit casino, for locals only. In fact it's for locals who won't go anywhere else to gamble.

This is a Tunica experience at Las Vegas strip prices. $15 minimum for table games. During slow week days, they would prefer to shut down more than half the tables rather than deal blackjack for $5 or $10 per hand. It's still very crowded on the weekends, and the smoke is terrible.

Forget 9/6 jack or better, even at the $1 level. Not even 8/6 at the quarters. No free drinks. In fact, if you order a drink at a table, it will be $4 plus tip and you will get a poor drink in a plastic cup. Recently I won a few bucks at a blackjack table and decided to get a martini at one of the upscale bars. It was $11 plus tip, which was served in a plastic cup. The cocktail waitresses are plain at best, most don't bother to wear makeup or even do their hair.

The buffet is good, but I spent $100 to take my wife and daughter (3 of us). It wasn't that good. There are 3 casinos, but they are spread out, no way to walk from one to another, so if you go, then you are going only to one casino. Best not to leave the building, as there is no place nearby worth walking to if you are visitor. This is the best casino in Detroit, but anyone who rates this even 3 stars overall has obviously never gone to Vegas.
