The MGM DETROIT has new Wolfgang Puck restaurants to replace the previous Wolfgang Puck restaurants--go figure. TAP is a new sports pub worth going to
to get away from the machines.
The VP is still bad--QUARTER JOB & DDB ARE 8/5 GAMES.
There are no "DOUBLE BONUS" VP in the place.
Seems like every month they add new slots, so there's no consistency to play
an oldtime favorite or a newfound favorite, cause it'll be gone soon.
I SAY THEY'RE USING MGM DETROIT AS A PROVING GROUND, BEFORE PUTTING THOSE SLOTS IN VEGAS (SAD).

BUFFETS:
BREAKFAST $16, LUNCH AT $17, DINNER AT $19 CERTAIN DAYS IS A BIG RIPOFF SINCE YOU HAVE TO USE a minimum $5 in POINTS JUST TO GET THOSE PRICES.
My suggestion, find local restaurants that charge $5 for breakfast or $10 for lunch. You're on your own for dinner. SEAFOOD NIGHT AT MGM IS---$39 EACH--
DO THEY THINK WE'RE BUYING SHARES IN MGM at those prices? MGM stock currently sells for @ $13 so actually, you'd be better off buying a share, cheaper than a meal. Get this latest PROMO they're running: giving away a $50 gift card at a local over-priced flower shop this month (JAN) for--get this--
2,000 points at $8/point---just risk 16 thousand dollars for VP players just to get $50 in flowers !!! Other promos are just as lame. Nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there, if you catch my drift.

In my mind, this is the only casino in Detroit worth visiting. The whole place is clean, the food is decent. Yes, the prices are higher than one might expect in Las Vegas or Atlantic City but hey, this is Detroit. They only have 3 casinos and there isn't much competition. I play poker and the poker rooms is wonderful. Extremely clean, very nicely decorated, quite, and enclosed and SMOKE FREE! And that my friends, is more important than just about anything else. So This MGM Grand gets a big "OK!" from me!

We stopped here on the way back from Caesars across the river in Canada. The casino seems to sprawl. The table games seemed to have high minimums for a Thursday afternoon. The tier points in MGM's M Life didn't rack up nearly as fast as they do in Las Vegas. And the food seemed very expensive for a casino. And getting from the casino to the freeway was a nightmare (which I understand isn't the casino's fault).

The slots payed well and I did win here (Hurray!). I tried to find a souvenir since I had never been here or even in Michigan before. They have a small little souvenir shop which they all but hide. The employees that I did come in contact all were very courteous and professional. But I think if I was even in the area, I would head back across the river.

MGM is by far the nicest, most full service Casino in Detroit. It is the only casino built from the ground up; the others are upgrade of their "temporary" facilities. MGM has a nightclub. multiple bars and upscale dining. The rooms are fully appointed and have great views. Table limits run high in the casino, and there is no full pay video poker.
