Clearly, this is the best casino in Detroit. Best buffet, best restaurants, best staff. But it is still a Detroit casino, for locals only. In fact it's for locals who won't go anywhere else to gamble.
This is a Tunica experience at Las Vegas strip prices. $15 minimum for table games. During slow week days, they would prefer to shut down more than half the tables rather than deal blackjack for $5 or $10 per hand. It's still very crowded on the weekends, and the smoke is terrible.
Forget 9/6 jack or better, even at the $1 level. Not even 8/6 at the quarters. No free drinks. In fact, if you order a drink at a table, it will be $4 plus tip and you will get a poor drink in a plastic cup. Recently I won a few bucks at a blackjack table and decided to get a martini at one of the upscale bars. It was $11 plus tip, which was served in a plastic cup. The cocktail waitresses are plain at best, most don't bother to wear makeup or even do their hair.
The buffet is good, but I spent $100 to take my wife and daughter (3 of us). It wasn't that good. There are 3 casinos, but they are spread out, no way to walk from one to another, so if you go, then you are going only to one casino. Best not to leave the building, as there is no place nearby worth walking to if you are visitor. This is the best casino in Detroit, but anyone who rates this even 3 stars overall has obviously never gone to Vegas.
