The South Point Hotel & Casino may be out of the way for most people, at the far, far south end of town, but it is well worth the trip. Unlike many other casino bean-counters, Michael Gaughan is not afraid to offer his patrons good games, delightful dining at a good price, good player promotions, and of course a beautiful hotel.

When most other casinos are constantly lowering their quality of video poker, the South Point has put forth a full selection of top paying VP games, welcoming players at all levels. A real breath of fresh air, much like Benny Binion always wanting to make sure he gave the players a square deal, instead of trying to pick their pockets.

Make the trip ... you'll be glad you did !

We stayed at Southpoint the end of Nov, beginning of Dec, 2006, and were pleasantly surprised.

Despite the hotel being full with rodeo participants & fans, we had a great time.

We loved the video poker, and for the first time in 11 trips, did most of our playing at the casino where we were staying.

I have booked a room again for this year's trip on 11/26-12/1. We learned to navigate around using the Interstate, and I can truthfully say, it beats traveling up the Strip!

The room was fantastic, roomy, tastefully decorated. The only complaint I had was the lack of a king-sized bed, as this was for a trip for our anniversary. We had booked the hotel months in advance, too.

I loved the 42"plasma screen tv, that I could actually see clearly without putting my glasses on!

We didn't get a chance to try the early breakfast last year, but will make a point to do so this year. We did have a disappointing dinner in the cafe (we had eaten a large lunch, so just wanted a sandwich). Food and service was slightly lacking by Vegas standards.

If you're looking for a very nice place to stay with reasonable rates, the Southpoint is the place for you. I'm really looking forward to our repeat stay this year!

Stayed at this hotel back in Feb. of 2007. One word comes to mind. Spacious! Wow this place is big and ROOMY.

The rooms are above average for what you pay. The flat screen LCD TV's are awesome. Bathrooms are spacious and above all NEW!

The only real negative I experienced is their Buffet. It is below average. The food is rather bland and sub-par for a Vegas buffet.

I would have given the South Point four stars, but the buffet and the fact that its pretty far off the Strip gets it only three stars.
