We stayed at Southpoint the end of Nov, beginning of Dec, 2006, and were pleasantly surprised.
Despite the hotel being full with rodeo participants & fans, we had a great time.
We loved the video poker, and for the first time in 11 trips, did most of our playing at the casino where we were staying.
I have booked a room again for this year's trip on 11/26-12/1. We learned to navigate around using the Interstate, and I can truthfully say, it beats traveling up the Strip!
The room was fantastic, roomy, tastefully decorated. The only complaint I had was the lack of a king-sized bed, as this was for a trip for our anniversary. We had booked the hotel months in advance, too.
I loved the 42"plasma screen tv, that I could actually see clearly without putting my glasses on!
We didn't get a chance to try the early breakfast last year, but will make a point to do so this year. We did have a disappointing dinner in the cafe (we had eaten a large lunch, so just wanted a sandwich). Food and service was slightly lacking by Vegas standards.
If you're looking for a very nice place to stay with reasonable rates, the Southpoint is the place for you. I'm really looking forward to our repeat stay this year!
