Horrible Service!! Was given a free room voucher in my monthly players club flyer. I made reservations 3 weeks in advance. I notified them that I would be a late check in, they blew it off as if it was not a big deal.. I arrived at the casino in St. Ignace around 12 a.m. to check in.. I could tell by the look of the front desk clerk that there was going to be something wrong. I was right She said she gave my room away at 4 P.M. I was furious, driving over an hour to get there to have to turn around and go back home.. On my way home I called to speak to a manager. He proceeded to tell me while cutting me off several times that the card they had on file was declined? what really? and that they gave my room away at 11 P.M. ok so now its 11 instead of 4!!! Someone dont have their story strait... Needless to say they wasted my time my money to get there. Did not bother to call me to tell me that they were going to charge my card "Free room". I knew there would be taxes and other fees.. But seriously I was planning on spending money at their casino and to have a good time.. prob would have paid for the room but they just LOST MY BUSINESS FOR GOOD!! Would not even do anything for me.. Just thought I would share my experience with everyone.. I use to go there all the time, never stayed the night though..
Stayed at the Kewadin Casino and Hotel as I was given a free night there, First let me say that I will never return, Slots were Very Very Very Tight (ya I know chance you take at a casino), Well when you go down at around 8am in the morning on a Friday and you see less then 20 people what does that tell you. They have taken everything promotional thing away the free $15.00 in gas is only on Wednesday's now (Hmm maybe they should send something out letting your customers know this, But no they post it as your walking in the door and now seniors day went from $10 to $5 but you must play so much before you get the big whooping $5, also now to get your money back for the bridge tolls you must get 30 points on your northern rewards card to get $8 back LOL, My big mistake they didn't inform us of this when we approached the desk that you must play 30 points before redeeming it, if I would have known this when I was up at the desk that night I would have cashed it in,so I go to do it when I get ready to leave the next morning and I'm told I'm sorry you have to complete 30 points in play today to redeem this hello I said I did that last night and I also stayed in the hotel last night, she said sorry you should have done it last night then, hello well why didn't the people sitting behind the desk yesterday afternoon tell me this not one word mention by them, frustrated I walked out,you need to get your people at the service counter on the ball, your $10 food voucher once again you must rack up 30 points on your northern rewards card to use it.. SO in all total you are paying them for all the coupons you use. NOT WORTH IT!! As for the hotel I took my parents with me they charged me $10.00 plus tax for my dad to stay in the room so if you have 3 adults make sure you pay that $10.00 I don't know why being it was a free night stay and they don't give you any gaming packages so why do they charge for 3 people? and one of our beds the comforter was ripped, there was a previous comment card left filled out on the desk stating also how terrible they were treated by your agents and how tight the machines were and how rude the restaurant staff were, to my surprise when I went to check into my room as I had asked for a early check in which I know that is not a gtd I was okay with that, But during the day and night as I walked by the desk the desk clerk was sitting in a chair reading a book(VERY TACKY) for a upper establishment, I even had to come to desk to get a box of kleenex as there was 3 tissues left in the box(hello why couldn't they have taken care of this.. I am very disappointed I can understand not giving comps etc away during the summer months but this is middle of winter and hotel and casino empty and so I guess being there empty you get nothing but terrible service and promotional items
My family and I have been good to the UP now for 3 years. We go twice a year if possible. July and Chrismas if we all can go. We take my parents and my Aunt. I called before this time because we now have Casinos in Cleveland 30 mins from my house and a new one in Toledo Ohio also. We do like them but I was concerned because if you are going to travel 7 hrs you want to have a good time. The man in charge of all the slot machines at Kewadian actually called me the week before to tell me about the new machines they had. That made me feel good. We all stayed at the Lake front inn. It is more afordable for the week vs the casino. We stay there in summer and at the casino at Christmas. The Slot machines where good to us. We played allot of money thought the machines. The wife and I made a small profit. We gambled everyday for a total of more them 60 hours. My mother got her name drawn and won 730 dollars. They have new machins, Jaws,Seasons,Napolan and Joseiphe. Pirate ship, and still have the old faverets. All we did at hotel was sleep so it was OK. At Christmas time they always have a Big Chistmas tree at the Casino and it is decorated very nice. My faveret time to go because less people. The employes at the Players club are always helpful, And the cashers are nice also. When you stay with them you get a nice package of comps. Money to spend at gambling. Money off of food. I feel the machines are loser then the new casinos in Ohio and Kewadin is well worth the trip. My family always feel theres no place like Kewadin. I will be booking our Chirstmas trip this week. Can't wait. Steve Koepp
Great Northern MI Casino / Kewadian Lakefront Hote

The casino is rather new, with a modern floor and amenities. We stayed at The Kewadin Casino Lakefront Inn, a nice hotel for the money. Our room (and I think most all do) faces right out to the lake. We had the standard king room and it was suprisingly very, very spacious (there would have been room for another king bed!). The rooms have been recently updated, and I saw a renovation-in-progress on the west wing of the hotel (we were in the east wing). The pool area was older but very clean and maintained. If you are a gambler the hotel has an extra value; they give you bonus tokens to play at the casino for staying with them. We won $30 with our tokens, so it was like a $30 discount on the room. Overall, for your basic motel, I have no complaints. They also now have a hotel attached to the casino, but we find the lakefront a better value.
