  • Baton Rouge Casinos – things you need to know

This is one of the best things about Baton Rouge! Great casinos with equally great games: blackjack, craps, roulette, baccarat, slots, video poker, and video keno (our favorite!).

All Baton Rouge casinos are open 24 hours a day and the minimum gambling age is 21. However, you only need to be 18 for pari-mutuel betting.

There casinos located in Baton Rouge are: Belle of Baton Rouge, Hollywood Casino – Baton Rouge, and the L’Auberge Casino and Hotel – Baton Rouge.

  • Types of casinos

All of the casinos in Baton Rouge are riverboat casinos. The casino doesn’t have to look like a boat, rather they all are rather large buildings that are built on barges that are required to float in the Mississippi River.

The riverboat casino was approved by the state of Louisiana in 1991, making it the fourth state in the country to approve that casino type.

Currently, the rules set in place by the state for slot machine payback percentages in Louisiana at all non-Native American casinos require that they must pay back a minimum of 80%, up to a maximum of 99.9%. The law also requires that non-casinos locations with video gaming machines, such as truck stops, have a minimum return of at least 80% and a maximum return to players of 94%.
