All of the slots at this place have very high jackpots because they never pay out, or squeeze you dry before they do. Do yourself a favor and go to one of the 2 other casinos right down the street where you have a chance of winning your money back

the staff is extremely rude. I felt very uncomfortable when the lady from the beverage department rolled her eyes at me and was condescending when I asked about my rewards points. If this were an isolated incident, it would be easy to over look, but I witnessed staff members being rude to other guests as well. It doesn't end there, the lady at the desert bar completely ignored me while talking to another employee. I have never been treated this way at a casino.... i have never had an unpleasant experience at an Ameristar Casino... :/

Ask not to be placed on their mailing list for free rooms. When you tell the employee making your reservation that you have a coupon for a free room, they suddenly are booked for the night. Before I mentioned coupon, no problem mam, we can get your reservation taken care of. I don't play games with my customers and I will not play games with this company!

This is an initial review, I am only stating my feelings and with time I am sure that things will get better. As was stated in a previous review, it was an ordeal to get from the parking garage to the casino. I believe the staff was not well trained, because no one that I spoke to knew where they were much less where I could find what I was looking for at that time. Went to the video poker bar at 1 PM on a Saturday afternoon, the bar was filled with patrons and there were employees hanging around, but I could not get a beverage. When I finally got someones attention, they said the bar would not be open until 3. I asked if they had another video poker bar that would be open at this time and the lady did not know. The slots were tight, as were the video poker machines. The minimum bet at the table games were high. The slots were jammed together with very little space to walk. Many of the slot machines were malfunctioning, making it hard to find an open machine. Many of the kiosks to cash in tickets and to get change were malfunctioning, as were the kiosks to claim free play credit that was being offered, if you were a new player and played for 30 minutes. My wife and I did not eat there so I cannot comment on the food at this time. The interior of the sports bar was very nice and would be a great place to watch an LSU or SAINTS game. For $385 million it was not as impressive as you would think it would be. I will return just to find out if they have resolved some of the issues.

The food was horrible!!! They actually had catfish nuggets on the buffet. Not nearly enough seafood on the seafood buffet. Over priced and very poor quality. Getting to the casino from self parking was like a corn maze. The hotel is nice but the rooms are pricey. The pool was closed?!? There are only two lane streets leading to the casino. Try to figure out cajun using roundabouts?????? Could have been so much better. Not nearly enough signs for navigation on the property. Lines were too long for the player club. I did not play the slots they were all full.
