My ratings are based on its downtown competitors. Its players club is not that generous, and its best vp is 8/5. It has the best rooms, pool area and side attractions in downtown. The best amenities, I like their breakfast buffet, mmm smoked salmon. They may start charging a resort fee,
So you may want to try it before it becomes more expensive.

At least the hotel is a jewel. The casino is crowded and small like most downtown places. The poker room is o.k. but only runs 1/2 NL - 2/4/L and some tourneys. They used to run 3-6 but they don't try to hard at it these days but binion's has started running more limit games lately. The nugget does have 8/5/bonus V.P. but don't expect many comps from playing there.

Went to the Nugget in early March of 2013 and had a very mediocre experience. Slot machines were cold as ice and stayed that way for three days and two nights. Hotel was hosting a conference and must have turned the machines off. I was quite unhappy with my experience and I will not be coming back.

Probably the classiest hotel/casino on Fremont Street.

Great table games, slots, and all around atmosphere. The dining options are good as well. They have a very good cafe, and a solid buffet which is one of the better ones in downtown Vegas.

Make sure you check out the large Golden Nugget while you're there.

Nice rooms for the $, Super pool area, lively casino with a good mix of slot machines, my wife did pretty well playing slots. Of course the Fremont Street Experience canopy is right outside the door, a must see. The Golden Nugget is like being on the strip with all the advantages of downtown.
