The renovations are very nice the lower casino floor and the bar is awesome. The outside is striking and attractive. It can be loud on the downstairs casino floor as mentioned in the previous review. They still have some good BP and Deuces. Upstairs is not as pretty but it is quieter and they have the old horserace game. Good amount of food options and decent drink service.

I just returned from a weeks stay in Downtown Vegas. I really like what the new owners have done to the old Fitzgeralds as far as the new carpet and all the other improvements. One thing that needs to go however is the unbearable noise on the lower floor. I used to play in there for hours. This trip I tried to play three or four times but just could not stand the loud music. As any craps player knows, communication with the crew is very important. Even standing next to the stick person it was hard to get my directions through. If the new management is trying to draw in young people with a little money to buy a few overpriced drinks they will probably be a big success. What they are doing at this point however is driving away the older hardcore gambler. I guess the choice of who they want to please is up to management. I know who I'd be after if I were running the place! The choice is up to the owners.

I happen to be paralyzed and in a wheelchair, but fly out several times a year I fly out to Vegas and always enjoy checking out the various resorts -- especially the Downtown properties.

We always spend some time in Fitzgerald's as we like the second floor restaurant and I like the Sportsbook now that Lucky's has taken over the operation and brought one of my favorite employees over from the Plaza.

But none of us ever get much of a feeling of being wanted or welcome in Fitzgerald's like we do at the Fremont Street casinos.

And we have never received any type of of offer, news, promotion or e-mail from the property even though they have our contact information from our Player's Club cards.

Up until my recent visit, I would have given a 5 Rating for the Food & Drink as we loved the 2nd floor restaurant -- especially the deals on barbecued ribs, burgers and the pasta bar.

But not only have they raised their prices a bit -- completely understandable as the ribs were arguably the best dining deal around after the Golden Gate shrimp cocktail (which seems to have disappered with their renovations) -- more importantly the quality and portions appear to have been reduced substanstially. I love almost any kind of barbecued ribs. But the ribs on my recent visit looked and tasted quite a bit different than the ones from previous visits and were a disappointment.

The pasta bar is still great though (remember to tip the guy preparing the made to order pastas) and everyone who works in the restaurant is friendly and has a good personality which helps to makes up for the lack of customer service in other areas of the hotel -- especially the casino and cashier's cage.

Another reason why I probably would not stay there with so many other nearby options is the extremely slow elevators.

But I am looking forward to see what renovations are in store for this large downtown property.

The Fitz is fine. I have always liked it there. The rooms are old but clean. They have several very good restaurants, and they're located downtown so if you like "Old Vegas", this is a good place. It's not great, but certainly adequate and a decent and safe place to stay.

We have enjoyed our stays for the last 5 years at the Fitz and find everything there very convenient. Parking is close, walk off the elevator right to the restaurant, and rooms with a nice view. It's always cool to watch the light shows at night on Fremont Street. Our stays have really been pleasurable and the staff at the Fitz always makes us feel welcome. Prices for food and drinks are very reasonable and they are always updating things in the hotel. A good place to consider!
