As we were driving to Las Vegas last Feb, it was lunch time and we stopped at Fiesta Henderson. We used our coupon from the American Casino Guide book for a wonderful lunch in the cafe. Food was great, service was great... we will go back again.

Cafe Fiesta opened in 2013 in the space formerly occupied by a Denny's. In March (2013) my wife and I dropped in for breakfast on a Tuesday when seniors (50+) enjoy ½ point dining. We found the restaurant to be bright and open. We each ordered easy over eggs, wheat toast, hash browns and bacon. The eggs were perfect, the bacon crispy, the hash browns tasty, but the bread was barely toasted. We weren't the only one disappointed in the toast because we overheard a nearby customer sending his back to kitchen. The 2014 American Casino Guide includes a coupon good for $10 off a $20 purchase.

We have dined several times at Fuego and enjoyed our meals, but prices have increased and it is now ala carte except for (4) 3-course meals priced at $27 each including prime rib, but there is an asterisk indicating “when available”. We happened to be in the casino on a Saturday night (March 2013) and inquired whether the prime rib would be offered the following day which was Easter Sunday. We were assured yes, so I made a reservation. The next evening I ordered the prime rib only to be told the kitchen was temporarily out of it. My educated guess is because there were only no other reservations and only 2 tables occupied, the chef made a decision not to roast a prime rib.

My wife ordered the prime, filet style, sirloin accompanied by a humongous sweet potato and baby carrots. I went with the evening's special, a braised lamb shank with roasted potatoes and baby carrots. Each of our entrees turned out to be pretty good though I was a bit surprised the lamb shank was served plain rather than in its braising liquid. We concluded the meal with a pair of excellent desserts, crème brulee for the lady and fresh berries in Grand Marnier sauce for your humble reporter. We paid with slot points and enjoyed our dining experience.

The slot club is consolidated with Stations. $1 coin-in yields = 3 Points for pay schedules under 100% and 1000 points equal $1 (0.30%) in cash, free play or comps. For 100% plus schedules, $4 coin-in = 3 points yielding a 0.075% return. Double points are periodically offered. Locals can swipe their cards at a kiosk, but non locals must go to the slot club to earn double points. The senior day was recently changed to Tuesdays.

The modern sports book is relatively large and includes 4 giant-screen TVs, 25 HD Plasma TVs and almost 100 individual monitors. A hot dog cart is operated during games, but is best avoided since the hot dogs are prepared ahead of time and wrapped in aluminum foil.
