Awesome setup, not always the cleanest but a great atmosphere. It's my 2nd favorite to Ameristar around STL. Drinks are expensive just like everywhere of course.

Terrible customer service. Security kicked out a member of my party for talking with another patron who was intoxicated. Submitted a letter about the issue months ago via 'contact us' link on website with no response. Sent a follow-up last month with previous letter attached, still no response. Unrelated to this issue, but River City has a history of not responding to my emails. I use to have a casino host who did not respond to emails.

I am a casino junkie. I visit them throughout the U.S. After being at a pool party on Father's Day, we decided to go to River City and blow a chunk of my husband's recent work bonus. Armed wearing nice clothes and $900 to blow, the plan was to rent a room since we had been drinking, eat at the buffet to sober up a bit, and drop several hundred each on slots and bar side poker machines. We were confronted in the parking lot by security for drinking a beer. We didn't argue we slammed and dumped the rest and walked into the casino. We were Watched like terrorists entering the building, and stopped by security at the door. I was asked to show an ID immediately, a first and only. I asked the lady if she wanted us to leave, she responded "yes". We were terrified to get in our car and drive off, fearing they had called county? Well we managed our way safely to Lumiere where I was treated with respect and had a great time. I do NOT recommend this place to anyone. I didn't want to go there initially because you don't ever win. I broke even st Lumiere and their staff was great!

New Years Eve was a joke, advertised "walk ups" would be seated for buffet after folks with reservations.....not true as only people with reservations we're let in. We waited from 4:30 till 10:00 pm and ended up eating crappy n expensive food in the Stein House w LOUD music blaring right across from us. The casino REEKS of cigarette smoke.....the smallest section, maybe 40' by 40' in a 90,000 sq ft casino was smoke free. I have never seen so many penny slots in one casino in my life....don't use "My Rewards" card in games, they track your playing n if you win early you won't win late. 1st hour up 300 on video black jack n wife up 200 on slots.....next 6 hours we lost winnings n never won again. The most outrageous "dealer" hands on video BJ that I have ever seen....NEVER would real table game give up dozens of black jacks and 4/5 card winning hands (by 1 I would add) to dealer while player gets nothing but 12, 13, 14, n 15 "death" hands dealt. 300+ hands and dealer maybe had 2 or 3 hands of 16 where they would be forced to hit.....poker was just as bad. Lastly the place looks like n old folks home.....sheesh where did all these geezers n Asians come from on New Year's Eve......spend your hard earned money n valuable time elsewhere!
