I need reservations at this hotel to see a concert. A week before the concert management called me to tell me that they accidentally gave me the discounted price and that I would have to pay another $35 per room or they would give away my rooms. I found out during the concert by talking to others that the hotel had sold out every single room at a discount. Every person I talked to had got that phone call demanding more money. The concert ended at 9. Much to our Chagrin all of the restaurants were closed except the snack bar and room service had been shut down. We had to wait 45 minutes to get an order from the snack bar. When we got it six out of the eight items we ordered were incorrect. Every item in every order was cold. All they had was burgers and hotdogs and they make one order at a time. So if you order three things you have to wait for three things to be made one after the other and by the time the last one is done the first one is Stone Cold. They don't play by the 'regular' rules for 21. I've played in four different Minnesota casinos, and many in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. I have never seen a set of rules like this. I don't play Slots but I like to people watch so I'll sit next to my girlfriend and observe. I could only see about 8-10 machines from where I was sitting and there was a couple of minor wins but they never brought anyone close to flush. In 3 hours I never saw any big payouts.
This casino/hotel was very impressive from the outside but the inside was another story. (Don't know about the hotel, did not stay there.) The casino was dark and in desperate need of a good cleaning. Smell like it had been clean with irty mops and clothes. Machines need a good polishing, sticky and gummy.
Slot are for the most part, old, a few new ones but not many. Saw no one winning anything. Saw a couple of bonuses but they won nothing to speak of. Smoking allowed and was not bad. Players club gives a small free play, just average.
Very unhappy looking employees except the young man at the Players Club was pleasant. Employees and waitress nice but just looked unhappy.
Buffet tasty but nothing special. Over priced I think. Again, dirty smelling.
Nice casino. Smoking permitted. Go there once a year to visit with inlaws and for dinner and a little gambling. Inlaws go there once a week. Can't rate players club or hotel.
Stayed last year. Our? vechicle broke down and we are from Thunder Bay, Canada. Staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Ended up staying for 5 nights.
We go to a lot of casinos and found that we had a great experience here. This spring we plan on returning.? Also, we have promoted Northern Lights to other people. It's not that far from our city.
A lot of people go to Duluth and to the Grand Casinos. It's the same distance. They just dont know that Northern Lights exists. Anyhow, thank you again for a great visit.
