Greektown Casino/Hotel is located in the heart of Downtown Detroit. It is an easy walk to all major venues. The hotel rooms are small, but clean and modern with a nice view of the city. There is no pool or fitness center. The casino has recently been remodeled; they have in my experience, the easiest comps in Detroit. Table limits, as in all of the D, run high-ish, with $10 usually being the minimum.

I love the cozy small casino feel of Greektown. I have not stayed in the hotel but have been to this casino over 50 times. Greektown has the latest slots and a decent comp program. Comps can be redeemed from a kiosk machine and are very easy to use. This place can get very busy on a Sunday when the Detroit Lions are playing a home game. Everyone uses the parking garage to park for free during the game. The food options here are not the best. If you are in the mood for a clean, fun, and enjoyable time this would be my casino of choice.

When I can't go to Vegas, I have to stick with my favorite local casino, Greektown. This is a great casino to hangout, kill some time before a Detroit Tigers or Lions game and then ride the public transportation (we call it the "People Mover") over to Comerica Park or Ford Field. Greektown features a decent buffet, a nice selection of VP, and table games where the minimums usually start at $10. I have not stayed at the hotel yet, but have heard great things about it. Greektown is my favorite out of the 3 Detroit casinos.

Although you can now look forward to newer slot games installed, newer carpeting, and re-arranging of the main gaming floors to reduce congestion in navigating this property, you can still dread the horrible air circulation. Since Michigan has banned smoking in bars & restaurants, the casino remains one of the few places indoor smoking is allowed - and this property is always smoke-filled. Attendants at the Players' Club are generally pleasant, but don't expect the same from the elusive beverage servers and slot attendants. Expect long waits for slot maintenance and hand-pays, (if you're fortunate enough to get a rare handpay!) Attn Blackjack players - video games/dealers are the rage here. The hotel is newer, with most rooms are efficiency-sized: very small bathroom only with commode & shower stall, offset by a pocket door. Minimal counter area around the hand sink and little maneuvering space. Comfy beds! My hotel room has always been impeccably clean and neat, and hotel staff is quite friendly, pleasant and professional. Casino buffet is a big disappointment: recent changes include eliminating waitstaff, severely reducing food/menu selection and quality, reduced seating, installing self-serve drink station, and adding Mongolian BBQ (but removed a second station offering this custom service.) One big plus: casino comps are accepted at many food/shopping locations in GreekTown proper, on streets surrounding the casino. Look for the "Comps Welcome" signs, but remember to obtain a voucher from the Players' Club first! Also lots of fun promotions and frequent gift give-aways for PC members.

Out of the 3 in Detroit Greektown is my favorite. It's in a fairly nice area of Detroit and close to a lot. The food selection is decent, but the buffet keeps going up in price. When they had the $10 dinner it was an excellent choice. Now it's well over $15 for the same buffet. They also have a 5 guys downstairs which is always a good eat. Tables are always crowded and the minimums are always $10 and above and on the weekends it's more like $20 minimums. Good amount of slows, but the payouts aren't good. The places is almost always crowded on the weekends so it doesn't feel like a very spacious casino except in the new areas. The employees aren't very friendly here or at any of the casinos in Detroit.
