About 15 months ago, my ratings would have been 5 across the board. Once Penn National bought out the owners, the casino and hotel has become concerned with 1 thing - cutting corners, raising prices and reducing comps. We live in Milwaukee and used to travel 200 miles to Jumers 1 a month when the offered us a free room (even on Friday and Saturday nights), free buffet, $15-$25 in free play and would comp us breakfast Sunday morning ($20) after playing $200 over Friday night and Saturday. We have chosen to go to closer Illinois and Iowa casinos as all of those items quickly declined once Penn National took over. We noticed a sharp decline in the staff as they have become less interested in customers. Buffet discounts have gone away - even the 5-cent chocolates on the hotel bed pillows are gone. All of the restaurants have raised prices by 20% over the last 3 years. We spend our time across the river in Iowa and come across to Jumers for a few hours maybe 3 times a year instead of each month. Over the last 3 years, 25% of the penny slots have been replaced by higher denominations. Odds at craps tables and blackjack have worsened. Sad decline in a great casino that reminded us of Las Vegas where we lived for 5 years. We spend our money at closer Illinois casinos and think about the past good times at Jumers.
