Rather than drive the three hours to Atlantic City I have enjoyed coming to Delaware Park. I was there today, 11/27/11, and mostly play roulette or three card poker.
That obtrusively loud noise coming from that new Batman slot, or whatever it is, was just extremely too loud. It made it almost impossible to hold a conversation while sitting at the three card table. Everyone, including the dealers, was complaining. This monstrosity belongs in a total slots area and preferably on the second floor.
I know that slots are your main money makers but it will be a long time before I return. I understand my small betting doesn’t make a hill of beans but I just did not enjoy this trip.
This is a good place to play. The machines pay back a decent percentage (I thought I read once they pay the highest percentage east of the Mississippi, but I could be mistaken). I usually do well. Plus since they don't have a hotel, the discretionary comps rack up at a decent pace. Most of the dealers are nicer than those in Atlantic City. They don't have the lose half when a zero comes up when you bet on colors or even/odd like they do in Atlantic City. And an excellent plus, NO SMOKING. They also have football parlay bets during football season.
My business takes me to the area every once in a while and I used to go to AC but when I found out they added table games I decided to give DRP a try. I was impressed with the overall attitude of the staff and the dealers. Some of the dealers lack experience but they don't seem to get uptight when you correct them. The poker room is nice and the wait to get on a table was not too long. The only thing I missed was they did not have a buffet. The restaurants were good and the prices were OK, but eating at a buffet has always been part of the gambling experience for me and I missed it. The slots seemed about normal (It took some time for me to lose my money - but I always lose if I play long enough). The thing I liked the most was that the table limits were normal... $10 blackjack... $5 3-card poker. I do agree that the parking needs to be improved. They should move the valet parking across the road and open the entire front lot to self parking. I not have a place to go without the long drive and I will keep coming back.
