This place is the worst. They treat you lousey. Machines are broken a lot. Stay away is the best advice. They treat the horse people terrible. Perfect example of how corporate greed ruins a business

I can never hit at this place. My wife can however. She seems to always win $500 and last trip hit $2500. Its fun to get away for a few hours as it is close to Lubbock. If you like betting on the ponies it can be fun. Resturants are ok. We did get sick on the oyters last time but thats our fault for getting oysters in Hobbs NM. We will go again as we usually got 3-4 times a year. Ruidosso is much better but twice as far. Of coarse Vegas is so much better but with kids who can get away to Vegas more than a couple times a year.

We used to visit Black Casino every week as we live not too far away. Several years ago we could actually hit something and walk out with a little money, but not these days. I understand there is a new owner of this place and even going weekly, we never see anyone winning anything. Half the time the soft drink machines are broken or there is no ice or cups. There is one stall in the upstairs bathroom (which you can no longer access from the bottom floor of the casino) that has been out of order for at least 3 years. You cannot get away from the cigarette smoke and it's obvious quite quickly that there is not adequate filtering to rid the casino of the smoke. There are always a lot of machines that are "out of service" and remain that way for months on end and if a machine you are playing jams up, be prepared to wait and wait and wait for someone to come fix it...it does not seem to be a priority at Black Gold to keep players playing their machines. Our last trip was 2 months aqo and we will not be going back. It's a further drive to get to Ruidoso but well worth the trip and the casinos there seem to really appreciate our business.

They claim to have 4 restaurants. Rest assured it's only 3 and one that's open for morning only for waffles only and you have to make your own. Hotel is nice. As far as the gaming floor in the casino, no live table games so forget it. Slots are mostly pennies and multi-line dollar machines. The single liners are ancient. No "real" quarter machines to speak of except ancient machines. No fifty cent machines either. High limits room but you better bring a bank roll really big cause it's tight also. Atmosphere in this joint is morbid. All dark colored, employees look like zombies most of the time, due to overwork because they can't keep employees. It would be nice if Penn National had a players club that was comparable to other players clubs as far as free play and comps, but they are the worst of all. Heck they want you to pay to play their free slots online, what a joke for sure. Save your time and money, go elsewhere, it's not worth the time or effort.

New management has ruined this place.  Catering to their high rollers only.  Every one else they don't care about, and that's from the horses mouth (employees).  Employees have high turnover.  Promotions are low and gimmicky, no real promotions going on at this place.  Take, Take and Take, no good machines anymore.  All machines are new gimmick penny slots. Machines are always broke.  Took out all quarter and fifty cent machines, only a few dollar slots and they "never" pay out.  Avoid this place.  Go to Ruidoso, NM, Oklahoma or Louisiana,  much better odds and return on play.  Atmosphere isn't a graveyard either.
