We recently stayed three nights at the Tropicana taking advantage of an offer that my wife got in the mail. During the 11-11-11 week we got a free three night stay and $25 free play each day. We were also able to get the second half of our initial losses back from our first visit here earlier this year.. So in total, I got my $50 free play and my wife got $100 free play. The new rooms were very nice and we were so close to the strip that one day we just walked to the MGM Grand, the New York New York and the Excalibur casinos.
Since we usually stay at the Flamingo, it's a long walk to the Tropicana, but worth it. I hope they bring back the trapeze acts. I liked them in the casino.
What a makeover. Casino and rooms looked better than ever. I loved the way they opened up the gaming floor; nice open spaces between slot machines and table games not crowded together anymore. Good selection of new and old slot machine games. Has a nice coconut smell throughout the casino that covers up the old tired smoke smell that the casino used to have. The bar by the elevators is great for watching football and the bartenders were excellent; plus good video poker machines at the bar. The players club employees were very friendly and did an excellent job. The new players club benefits are excellent also, with the player being able get money back that same day of a loss. The downside was that the casino doesn't have a buffet anymore and I thought the new restaurants were overpriced and the food wasn't that great. Had trouble sometimes finding a drink girl playing slots and video poker some nights. The biggest downfall is that the hotel charges you over $11 per night for a resort fee, I guess they want the hotel guests to pay for the remodeling super quick.
We visited the Tropicana Casino this year after the re-modeling and took advantage of the promotion that returned up to $100 in losses for new club members. We got back half of our losses that day and will get the rest back on our next visit this year.
My wife and I were in Vegas early in October. She always liked going down to the Trop and last year when we were there, it was undergoing remodeling.WOW! We were so surprised at the casino! It is beautiful! Glimmering and shiny new! We don't stay there but man...very impressed! I asked about further projects and security told me all the food venues were in the process of being revamped.Rooms are supposedly being redone and spruced up also. Might actually think about staying there next trip! It is looking good!!
