This casino is on Boulder Hwy which is so much more of an easy going casino then on the Strip. The slots are alot looser and the buffet is wonderful! Many other casinos near-by and fun to check out when in this area.
We stayed for 13 nights in October 13th and generally enjoyed our stay, but we won't be returning in the near future. The primary problem, aside from the location, was the soft beds. My wife's back ached so much that she ended up seeing a chiropractor when we were returned home.
Sams town may not be in a great location on boulder highway, but they do have free shuttles to the strip and downtown freemont that anyone can use. They have plenty of full pay, progressive and 100% video poker, but they have removed some. They have a poker room that the locals like, with some promotions going on many days. This is a huge property with lots to do.
The hotel/casino's location on the east side of town is inconvenient even for those renting a car. There are no nearby highways running east/west so we invariably ended up using highly trafficked Flamingo, Tropicana, Sahara or Desert Inn to get to the Strip or our dining destinations west of the Strip. We found Desert Inn to be the least congested. On the plus side, there is easy access to 515/95 that runs north to Downtown and south to Henderson/Boulder City.
