We stay at the Nugget a couple times a year with our kids, age 4 and 7. It's a nice overnight getaway from Southern CA. Room rates are very reasonable, and sometimes on Priceline you can get a weekend night under $40 these days, or through a special directly from the hotel. The east tower is updated with flat tv's, etc, but we usually choose the west tower because rooms are bigger. West tower rooms are a little dated with 80's decor but very comfortable. Rosie's is a good coffee shop. As of our last visit they now seem to include wifi with the resort fee, or maybe that was a special one-time deal we got.

What I like best about the Nugget is the beautiful indoor pool. It's great to be able to swim in the middle of winter.

This is a pretty kid-friendly hotel.

I haven't done much gambling at the Nugget. I usually play at the Western Village instead, where they have $2 blackjack.

We always stop at the John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks to see if the players club is running a promotion in which we have to scan our cards to win something. On our recent trip we found out for the first time that there was no promotion going on. We walked around for a little while and played a few slot machines before leaving. This casino is down the street from the Terribles Rail City which has more intereting slots and a cheap buffet. It is also near Baldinis which has a cheap burger restaurant.

I stayed at the Nugget for 3 nights in March.
The hotel was very clean, although dated. I did find the acomodations very nice, rooms were big, and staff was very friendly and professional.
Table games were very good, although we stayed Tuesday through Friday and they weren't overly busy.
The pool complex was excellent, and I will consider staying here with the family because of the large pool.
I only ate at the buffet while a guest, and it was typical buffet food. Good, but nothing stood out.
The one downfall was how isolated the property is. But it is very self contained, so if one wants to relax there shouldn't be much need to go off property.
I love the Reno area, and have stayed at several properties. I would say the Nugget is one of the better properties in the area and when considering the convention facilities I would say it would be a fine place to stay.

John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks near Reno is still a good place to gamble. It is a short drive from the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. The casino is large with many old and new slot machines.

We stayed here while visiting Reno and were more than happy with both the hotel and casino. Rooms were relatively inexpensive and of satisfactory quality. The casino seems to meander under the highway overpass.

Low rollers, like myself, will enjoy the 5c-10c 9/6 JOB and NSUD machines combined with excellent earned comps.

Although many restaurant choices are offered, we were not overly impressed either with the buffet, oyster bar, coffee shop or Gabe's Deli.
