I play at the GC casino because I stay at the GC. It's not the very best, but I like it because of the relaxed environment and the feeling that locals play there.

A nice, clean, off strip, locals casino. I prefer Suncoast and Orleans in the Boyd family, but for an inexpensive alternative, it will work.

I've never had a bad time there, but it also is not overwhelming. Food not great, but also not bad. Again, it will work.

If you have a 5 star budget, we know where you will go. If you have a 2-3 star budget, the GC may work especially with the remodeled rooms. You know what you're getting.

We have stayed at the Gold Coast off and on for several years due to the low room rates. The rooms are far from lavish, but functional though the bathrooms are very small. The upper floor rooms have been entirely renovated including more space allocated to the bathroom. We primarily play video poker and have been disappointed in recent years as the full pay inventory has been decimated.

Parking is adequate with two smallish garages supplementing a surface lot at the rear of the casino. The showroom has been closed and now serves as the lounge. We dined at the Cortez Room for the first time since it was relocated and found the room to be comfortable and the food decent for the prices charged. The buffet is serviceable for breakfast, but falls into the same old, same old category after a few visits. We really like Ping Pang Pong, Chinese restaurant, for both dinner and the dim sum lunch. Being non-Asian we have encountered a few service problems at dinner. Overall the Gold Coast offers good value for the frugally minded who prefer to stay off the Strip.

The Gold Coast is a pretty blue collar joint and the clientele is generally 50+.

However for the money it's a pretty good place to stay.

The hotel rooms are pretty cheap for what you get, and the newly renovated rooms are a good option for a small upgrade cost.

The gambling is good, their 22 dollar poker tournament is a blast and their sportsbook is great. The other major selling point for this joint is the free shuttle to the center of the strip and the Orleans (runs regularly).

In addition the location across the street from the Palms is great. The Palms has probably the best video poker in Vegas, a pretty good movie theater and a bunch of other good selling points (stay at the Gold Coast for cheap and hang out at the Palms if the Gold Coast's atmosphere isn't your thing)

We visit the Gold Coast on every trip in order to eat at the buffet and enjoy the lounge acts. Dim Sum is now offered every day at Ping Pang Pong.

The casino attracts retirees and blue collar locals except when it plays host to various groups such as those attending the NFR, Rockabilly Weekend etc.

Video poker is decent though the number of full pay machines have declined in recent years. Currently 9/6 JOB is offered at the bar.
