The Gold Coast opened in December 1986. It was the first casino built from the ground up by Las Vegas casino mogul Michael Gaughan, who already operated the Barbary Coast on the Las Vegas Strip. Upon opening, the Gold Coast was the first casino to have a first-run movie theater in Las Vegas (the original MGM Grand had a theater screening MGM classics) and was specifically catering to the growing "locals" market of the Las Vegas suburbs. It was the second major resort built on the west side of Interstate 15, ten years after Palace Station.[citation needed] In October 1995, the largest jackpot in the state at the time, $10,918,881.00, was won by an anonymous man on a "Megabucks" slot machine.

Destination amenities and activities draw both tourists and locals. The Gold Coast Hotel & Casino has a state-of-the-art bowling center, one of the country’s largest. Plus, the latest and greatest video and interactive games. Enjoy a wide variety of gaming, too. There are over 700 newly remodeled premium rooms and deluxe suites, a new fitness center, and beautifully landscaped pool. Free shuttles between nearby sister property, The Orleans Hotel, and the Strip are offered.

Restaurants include the #1 Asian restaurant in Las Vegas, Ping Pang Pong. Cornerstone Steakhouse is a Hidden Gem and one of my favorite Las Vegas restaurants. At the moment the buffet is closed but IMO the most underrated buffet in Las Vegas. The Noodle Exchange is one of the city’s favorite noodle bars, with a wide array of delicious noodle and rice dishes. Be sure to try the mini hot pots, the specialty of the house!

I have stayed at Gold Coast many times. I have enjoyed every stay and visit.
