I happen to be paralyzed and in a wheelchair, but fly out several times a year I fly out to Vegas and always enjoy checking out the various resorts -- especially the Downtown properties.

The Fremont is one of several Boyd Gaming properties downtown (Main Street Station and California Club) so they often offer some nice discounts and promotions for their Player's Club members.

The Fremont has a nice sportsbook that I like because it opens up early each morning to accept/pay out wagers, has a large electronic board and some of the nicest, most helpful employees. They are also generous with the free drink coupons for the adjacent bar.

Even though we prefer staying at the Four Queens, we find ourselves in the Fremont several times a day as it beckons us from directly across Freemont Street. I would probably spend more time/money there if the casino had some lower tables for 21 that are much more comfortable for someone in a wheelchair to spend a few hours playing at.

I usually do not like chain restaurants, but Tony Roma's is consistently good and their prime rib dinner is an excellent deal and a decent grade of beef.

The Paradise Buffet in the Fremont is also fine as far as buffets go -- especially the prices for the breakfast and lunch buffets or with the various 2:1 dinner buffet deals that are often available (except for Seafood nights).

The Fremont also has a nice chocolate shop if you want to surprise your loved one or discreetly give a little gift to a particulary helpful casino employee.

For a fast meal, we sometimes go for the Chinese combos in the Lanai Cafe, but a word of caution -- avoid the shrimp cocktails. They taste like they were prepared several days earlier in another state and shipped frozen to Vegas. Despite the cheap price, you couldn't pay me to eat another one and if not for their inferior quality shrimp cocktails, I would award a 4 Rating for Food & Drink.

We just hope the Golden Gate will bring back their $1.99 shrimp cocktails after they complete their renovations. It is just not a trip to Vegas without a few tasty and inexpensive shrimp cocktails after a fun evening at the tables.
