The El Cortez is the cornerstone of Downtown Las Vegas casinos. It remains an icon of classic Las Vegas. Since 1941, the family owned El Cortez has been a part of this neighborhood, and the neighborhood is part of them. You can see it in the smile of a bartender and hear it in the jingle of one of their classic coin slots.

As the longest continuously running hotel and casino in Las Vegas, the El Cortez Hotel and Casino has undergone several renovations inside, but retains the same facade it had 1952 when their “new” neon signage was installed. Here, the spirit of classic Vegas is still alive. On February 22, 2013, the building became the only existing casino to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Take a look at the history of El Cortez and you’ll see what Las Vegas means to them, and what they mean to Las Vegas.

El Cortez offers extensive accommodations for every style and every budget. If you’re looking for an old-school experience, their Vintage or Pavilion rooms are ideal. The Tower Premium rooms were made for those that love contemporary luxury. You can bask in luxurious space and maximum comfort in their recently renovated Tower Premium Suites or indulge in an exclusive boutique experience in the Cabana Suites. I've stayed in the Tower Premium Suites twice and they are awesome rooms.

Siegel's 1941 restaurant fits the "classic" theme of the property to a T. Hands down the best Matzoh Ball soup in Las Vegas. Siegel's now offers a "Prime Menu." Prime Rib, Prime Fried Rice, Prime Rib Sandwich, Prime Chili and a few others "Primes."

El Cortez is the first and only casino worldwide to have The Cone by Richer Spin? It’s an innovative new platform for roulette that features state-of-the-art technology, allowing it to deliver two outcomes in a single spin and increase the possible “jackpot” payouts to 300 to 1 and 100 to 1. There is absolutely no change in the traditional rules of the game, so it provides a perfect side bet platform for players looking to increase their potential winnings.

I have been hesitant to stay stay at El Cortez thinking it was an "oldie." I was wrong, it is a timeless classic.
