The Avi Hotel and Casino was very hard to find and their directions are such that we didn’t realize this motel was so far south of the main Laughlin Casinos. As we pulled into the parking lot, there was a strong odor that smelled like a sewer. We booked a SMOKING room. At check in we were directed to the room, toted our luggage in . . only to find out that it wasn’t a smoking room. We had to move to the opposite end of the hotel. A bellman came to carry luggage for us and take us to the smoking room (he was very nice and polite). The smoke alarm kept beeping every few minutes. We called maintenance. They came and fixed it (and he was very nice and polite). The rooms: no refrigerator or microwave, coffee pot turned off before coffee was totally brewed, faucet leaked in the bathroom, no towel racks in the bathroom, only two ashtrays, two trash cans (one in the bathroom and one in the room), AC noisy, toilet flush very loud, sounds from the hall, people talking, doors slamming (poor insulation). There was no map of the hotel in the room telling you where the restaurants, pool, beach area, movie theater, etc. were. We finally asked at the desk and a very vague, small drawing was provided. Forget about cell phone use. The whole area was basically “out of service”. Maid service was average. Food was average. Overall, I feel sorry for the employees who cheerfully seemed to be very good at “correcting all the mess ups” made during a given stay. I will NEVER stay at the Avi Hotel and Casino again nor will I recommend it to anyone.
