The receptionist was so rude on the phone that I almost hung up on her - stoic, blunt and downright mean. Then, when I got there, the slots were the worst I've ever experienced (and I've been to casinos all over the country). I cannot believe that a gaming resort would tighten their machines to that extent. I lost hundreds without ever being "up" - not once. All of the patrons were muttering about the absurdity of the impossibility to win. Trust me, pass right on by this resort and casino. There are plenty of "real" casinos just down the road.

It looks a little hodge-podge from the outside, but inside is nice. It's a full service casino / hotel with all you expect. There is a variety of restaurants and a buffet. There is a smallish indoor pool. The rooms were clean and modern. We found no full pay video poker, but the table limits were super low ($3-$5).

The Vegas Kewadin location in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan is one of the original casinos in the state of Michigan from over 20 years ago. They have about 300 rooms give or take and is Kewadin's flagship property out of their 5 locations in the UP of Michigan.

The slots here offer a fair selection but it almost doesn't seem like it. They have 3 different rooms to play - their main room with table games and an average selection of slots. Another room across the hall offers more games and a lounge but nothing much else. Finally a 3rd room close to the hotel rooms offers maybe 25-35 slot machines in this small section. For the size of the place you would expect a better selection or layout of machines - it doesn't seem as large as it actually is. A lot of the machines are still older machines and shockingly the Kewadin casinos are probably one of the last casinos to not have all TITO type machines but have some coin in coin out type still as well. Overall about 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Table games is fair but a small selection. At one time they used to have 2 pits - one on each end of the main casino - but they have since cut that in half. It doesn't seem that many people play blackjack or craps, etc there....usually only a few tables open at most even with low limits posted. The staff is average - not overly friendly but not rude. Kind of disappointing again though factoring in the size of the overall place. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Customer service is only average, and as with most employees they are not rude but not really friendly either. The casino just kind of "runs" Everyone there is doing a job and it kind of shows. Almost like a worker's type casino. The players club is basically the same way - although comps are slightly better than average for slots and direct mail offers are fair. Table game comps are very tight and you rarely can even get a meal from them. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

The Atmosphere or lack there of is just that - again average - kind of boring - not horrible - not great. A couple nice bar areas in the casino but overall just kind of rows of boring machines and the small pit for table games. 3 out of 5 stars.

The hotel is fairly nice. They have the tower rooms which are quite nice - unique because the first 3 floors (a 6 floor tower) offer some rooms that actually face towards the casino box office, deli, gift shop, etc - inside the casino. You actually don't have a window looking outside but rather along the "indoor" trail leading to the gaming. It is one of the more unique places I have seen like that. Otherwise the rooms could use improvements but they are comfortable. The carpet is dated - but even with the mattresses on the older side they are still fairly comfortable - you will get a decent night sleep. Except be sure to turn the deadbolt on your door or put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door - because housekeeping starts at 8am and will seriously just walk in your room - HOUSEKEEPING and realize people are in the room and walk back out - it has happened 2 times to us there. So now we always use the deadbolt and the sign. It is the first place (especially a casino) that is looking to kick out their guests by 9am or earlier (even though posted times say 11am check out). They do offer room service with average to slightly above average food....and have a dry cleaning service along with other things needed. So overall 4 out of 5 stars.

Food and Drink is good - the food is slightly above average. On my last trip I just wanted to place a to-go order from the main restaurant - and there was a long line backed up at the check out - another employee came by to wait on me so I wouldn't have to wait 10 minutes to place my order - instead it was ready in 10 minutes. So that was very helpful and unexpected from a Kewadin. But the food is pretty good and prompt and reasonably priced. 4 out of 5 stars.

my wife & i have been going here for years (15), the gambling and tournaments are good. we enter many touraments a year they are well worth the price, and are great fun and are a bargain at the cost. Every time we go we say if only they would put alittle money into updatting their rooms. The beds ,tvs, and carpet are past being old. For a small price they could have a great hotel. New mattresses tvs and bed spreads would improve this place 100%.
