I've been going to Calder since it opened the slot floor in 2010. First few months, great payouts, and it's gone downhill after that. I go less frequently now, hardly at all. Every time I go it's with a 500$+ bankroll, and I'm driving home in 30 minutes. One time, I lost over a grand there on the slots and left with 30 bucks left. I decided to drive a bit North to the Hard Rock just to play out what I had left for a bankroll. I left the Hard Rock with over 4,000$. Story of my life.

The payout doesn't seem to be that good, especially on the shufflemaster blackjack. The minimum is $5. I've seen people go through $100 or more (at or near the minimum) without winning anything. I generally avoid the blackjack here.

The player's club is ok. I occasionally see special promotions in the newspaper, usually around holidays, for $20 in free play. However, the normal 'free' play' requires you to get 10 points. $5 in play gets you one point and it does not carry over from one machine to the next. (If you play $4.99 on one machine, you start over on the next.)

The one thing I like is the free soda, but it's too far out of my way for me to go there just for that. They do have a few games I like, so if I'm in the area, I might stop by.

As a teacher, I love that I get $10 in free play every Friday. But the slots don't seem to pay out as much as they do at other casinos. The poker room is usually not packed, but as a limit player I can't stand that they only play 2 Straight, just people that stay in until the river every hand. Buffet is pretty good with different themes nightly, and usually get mailed BOGO coupons so my wife and I eat cheap.

I gamble all--- Calder is a new building and a real parking lot--- Mardi Gras too dark, no drink machines. Gulfstream --have to walk thru the horse poop when horses are running- casino area is a fire hazard. Isle-- too many buttons don't work on machines, parking lot is awful and like all the rest - promotions are absolutely a waste of time. If you're a smoker go to Hard Rock, if not- you'll get cancer anyway after going. And what in the world is Dania Jai Alai waiting for? Like no competition and a license to steal.........Been to Magic City, but I don't speak Spanish and that's their language of choice...
