Dan Paymar, a member of the Video Poker Hall of Fame, passed away in Las Vegas on July 17, 2020 at the age of 83.
Dan was a video poker expert with a background in computer programming. He had written several books on video poker, including Video Poker – Optimum Play. For 14 years he edited and published his own newsletter, the Video Poker Times. Dan was also the developer of “Optimum Video Poker”, an analysis and training program for Macintosh and Windows computers.

Dan got me interested in video poker. Things started getting better when I read his “Optimum Play” book and memorized the correct strategy. Always willing to answer a question via e-mail, Dan was a true gentleman. I wonder if even he could have predicted how quickly full pay VP would disappear across American casinos. Rest In Peace, Dan.
