11/2011 - I don't have a lot of luck at Potowatomi but I will say that they have gotten more penny machines and newer machines in recent times. I think they are finding that people will travel to find newer machines that have less than 100 lines on them. I don't play the tables, but they are always busy. They do give you nice comps - most every month I receive a coupon for a free buffet as well as a dollar comp. During your birthday month they give you 2,500 points if you gamble that month. That is worth $25.00 in their gift shop or restaurants - or $10 slot play. Not my favorite place to go to win something, but they are getting a little better. Hoping for a casino in Kenosha! Then the Potawatomi will really have to toe the mark!
My wife and I frequent casinos across the US while traveling both for work and pleasure. We have several relatives that live in WI and usually visit there once every other month. Of all of the casinos we have been to, this one is the worst or close to it as far as slot payouts. Several times a year we take our older family members there but have only left winning once out of 50 times over the years. I suggest visiting some of the others throughout the state. I usually leave Lake of the Torches with more than I came in with on a regular basis. Other than the gulf coast, Vegas and Atlantic city, we usually hit most of the Indiana Riverboat Casinos on the Ohio River monthly. They payout much better than Potowatomi ever has. This is not to say you don't have your good days and bad like at any casino, I am just saying overall, this one is the TIGHTEST for slot payouts I have been to since the early 90's! Then again, you could walk in and maybe become RICH! I will say they do have a good selection of slots though for being outside of Vegas. The food is what you would expect for the price, and the Bingo room is fun. Good luck!
SLOTS: Great selection, best I've ever seen, but very tight.
TABLE GAMES: No idea, I'm a slot player. Gave it an average 3 , only because I was required to rate it.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Good. Cocktail Waitresses have been frequent ( soda and coffee is free, alcohol is a charge ) and Fire Keepers are courteous , helpful and comp a meal here and there.
PLAYERS CLUB: Pretty good, they give a couple dollars as a bonus twice a month based on play. Points are earned somewhat quickly and can be exchanged for food or at the gift shop which has some interesting and unique items for sale.
Example:1600 points is equal to $16.00 food/shopping.
I've been told the points can be exchanged for cash at half the value.
GAMING ATMOSPHERE: Very fun, large casino.
AMENITIES: There is no Hotel , gave it an average 3, only because I was required to rate it.
FOOD & DRINK: Fire Pit Sports Bar has good food and drink. Had lunch Buffet once and it was so disappointing, never again. Sunday Brunch was pretty good. Trappers grill upstairs in food court is alright for fast food. Never tried the other restaurants.
Can count on fun and most likely food (if you ask for a comp), but as far as winning, don't count on it.
It has a lot of redeeming qualities that keep hundreds of people returning, but the slot payouts need improving.
Slot payouts are pitiful. The only thing I can suggest are the table games. At least you have a little more control over those payouts. Just beating a dead horse by giving them another thumbs down review on their slots. Good luck.
