My lady and I are going to this casino for a visit this Saturday. I'll be returning to leave a full review for all of the "Ratings" items with a common sense, level headed person's view. We plan on eating there and playing a big variety of slots. I have watched all the educational videos that youtube.com channel americancasinoguides uploaded. This is my strategy...
I'll be playing Video Poker 90% of my gambling night with a few other slots mixed in. I'm sure my lady will be playing only slots, maybe some video poker.
Stay tuned for the full open and honest review for Mohicina North Star Casino....
i have been gaming often at northstar mohican casino since my arrival in wisconsin from new jersey in 2008. within the past few months(mid-to late 2010 starting) i must say that northstar has taken a serious dive towards being on the worst list of gaming establishments. true the people are nice there (they are starting to become rude and obnoxious though, with the exception of the casino staff i know that remained and have not quit due to mistreatment or the sort). the promos are junk. its extremely aggravating to see a neighbor receive 15 a week in freeplays PLUS a free hotel stay for NOT gaming when i myself have spent OVER 450 DOLLARS IN NOVEMBER. foolishly yes but it's my mistake. bringing up another trick northstar has pulled. PUTTING WAGER MONEY (giftcards you buy with cash) ON YOUR PLAYERS CARD AS A PROMO. why would a casino payout when the system thinks it's free money from the casino? this implement is the stupidest thing they could have done. and no one listens to a word you say. and i have not moved up from a sapphire since i got my card initially. i used to play hard and hit decently at northstar but recently i have threatened to take my business elsewhere and have done so. i only bring like 20 dollars with me when i do go. and the list of "loosened" machines is a revenue grabber when i did win something it was indeed the machine next to it that i won on. this establishment does hit but not that often at least not for local frequents. it's ALWAYS some out of towner that hits. highly unfair.
Dropped truckloads of money over the last 5 years or so. haven't gone much lately. Live near Milwaukee so driving there is 2.5 hours each way. Got a comp in the mail for free play, $25 bucks worth whoopee. Called the star club to ask if the $25 was still good, and their only answer was, "we cannot give that information out over the phone, you have to come in to the star club." Yeah like I am going to drive 2 plus hours to verify that. Taking my hard earned cash elsewhere. Probably Oneida,at least that way it is a shorter trip.

I am seething at Mohican's new move. Their old check writing system was pretty good. You could go to the check cashing window and write a check after proving you had the funds in your checking account. It was a pretty good system. Never ran into a problem and could write checks for $400-$500.
Now Mohican switched to Certegy payment services, a company used by many major retailers including Walmart and Godaddy.com. Certegy guarantees checks written by patrons allowing casinos like Mohican and Walmart to accept less risk.
If you write a check at a company that uses Certegy and it bounces, Certegy will come after you, ruin your credit report, and make your life a living hell. So if you have ever bounced a check and had to deal with Certegy do not expect to get any credit at Mohican.
Because I was on Certegy's blacklist I was only able to write a check for $100. All because I let a $5 domain name expire bought from Godaddy.com. Certegy came after me for the $5 domain name plus a $30 return check fee. They put the $35 charge as a charge off on my credit report. Don't ask me how in Gods name they were able to get my social security number. It was a nightmare. Don't go to Mohican. They have lost their way and treat you like a number not a valuable patron.
