First off, it was my 3rd year going and the service has been going downhill for sure. It took almost an hour for a waitress to finally come over and ask "why wait for me, when there's a soda fountain around back?"
Then the pitboss couldn't have cared less when there was a mis-paid amount and made me wait 35 minutes to review a tape to get me my 25 dollar chip back. It seemed like all the dealers were having a very bad day, they were rude and inconsiderate.
Go take your money and play somewhere else, this casino has fallen on hard times and doesn't care about the players. The other reviewer seems correct, why would someone who gambles here go on and on and on about promotions and free this and that unless they worked for ho chunk.......WHAT A SHAME.....NO MORE FOR ME.......
Most of the dealers are sourpussed native americans who look at you like you owe them tips, or something. Waitresses rarely if ever, come around for drink orders. The floor person brushed off my complaints and then so did the pit boss.
The line to get a new card took forever, and the desk was manned by some 80 year old lady who got more flustered as time went by. Service sucked, definitely will be gambling where my money and time are a greater concern to the house.
The other reviews are so glowing because they were probably written by people who work there and want you to go lose more money....I'm all about the truth, my experience of ho chunk is garbage. DO NOT STOP AT THIS MONEY SIPHON HOLE.........
HAVE TO SAY THAT I WONT BE BACK ANYTIME SOON, THE SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE AND SOME CRABBY GERIATRIC COULDNT EVEN GET MOVING AROUND WELL ENOUGH TO HELP THE 30 PLUS PERSON LINE WHILE THEY HEMMED AND HAWED ABOUT WHY I LOST MY POINTS....SERVICE SUCKED.
I WILL GAMBLE ELSEWHERE, MANAGEMENT DIDNT EVEN WANT TO HEAR MY CONCERNS AND IVE BEEN THERE FOR 8 YEARS NOW.....FORGET IT.......
If you don't know Ho-Chunk Casino and Hotel then you're definitely not from the Midwest. It's big with lots and lots of machines and table games. Like all casinos, some days you win and most days you lose!
The buffet has really good food as does the Sunrise Cafe. I've never gone to the upstairs bar, so I can't comment on that. It's open 24 hours and the hotel is spectacular.
The rooms are ample and easy access to the casino. All in all, a very pleasant experience could be had by all.
