Machines here are so TIGHT!!! its unbelievable i go to hochunk atleast once a month and ive never won over 200 dollars. ive spent about close to 6,000 in my life time and im 24! never win. theres got to be something someone can do because its not fair to be robbed like that! and food sucks!
Buffet - skip it. Reminds me of Waffle House quality at Ruth's Chris prices. Yuck. Large casino with decent non-smoking section which gets lots of smoke from the smoking section which is not separated? Brilliant. Indian staff are rude and do not care what you think. Seems like they are trying to get revenge against the white folks? Payouts are not great. Non-smoking section was larger but, race betting and poker tables moved in and cut it in half. Avoid the hotel at all costs!!! Very expensive and very mediocre rooms. Video poker is horrible - nearly all machines are 7/5 payouts on Jacks or Better. We live in Milwaukee and drive to Illinois and Iowa. Our results are well worth the extra time and effort. The Ho-Chunk tribe, much like the Potowatomi, care about 1 thing - making money at any cost. Until more casinos open in Wisconsin, local players will continue to get ripped off. As for us, we will keep driving 2 hours south and west and get treated like valued customers and win some money. Results do not lie.
I wanted to say that I am 35 and have been going to Ho Chunk for over 17 years. I have never even sniffed a jackpot. I have about 2 out of three in Nevada and about 6-7 at Potawatami. Just to put it in perspective in my last two trips I have lost almost $1500 and not even got 1 four of a kind in video poker. Avoid this casino if you can. Their hotel is fairly nice even though they have only like 12 channels for their TV. Also their food has to be the worst casino food I have ever had in my life.
I'll be leaving a full review for our entire expirence section for section once we return. It will be interesting because there will be at least 10 couple in our annual group this time. We'll have all kinds of reviews to share with the viewers for this review for our trip.
My experience is that you just don't do the slots on Friday thru Sunday. The slots are tight and not much fun when they won't pay out. Pathetic. It took two yrs for me to ever get a decent payout from this casino. Probably won't happen for another two years. Go on Mon thru Thurs in the afternoon and you may not go broke on the slots
