Let me preface this with: I've only been to Vegas once, and played one electronic poker game there. That's the extent of my gambling experience. I have lived in Madison for the past nine years and always passed the casino when driving to visit family in Chicago. I went to Dejope with some relatives this past weekend after having bought the Groupon for $25 for the players club card and $10 for the grill.
The good: I thought the customer service was wonderful. I have an elderly cousin who needed a wheelchair, and security was there for her in minutes. In fact, she hurt herself and the staff was prompt about getting her bandaged and resettled in the wheelchair. The Guest Services desk staff was friendly and helpful with my questions about what the Players Club thing was (again, never really gambled). The cashier at the grill was friendly and helpful.
The Bad: The place took my $25 in about 20 minutes. I also had to dig around for $1 in change, which I got turned into paper $ at the cashier, because my $25 PlayersClub card had to be activated with real money first! I never knew I had to spend more than what I paid for the Groupon! What if I hadn't had my change purse and had to use an ATM just so I could get $1 to play my $25? Lame. The slots are boring. They take your money in a little feeder (I was imagining a bucket of quarters that I could feed in). The Bingo they advertize is just some little screen on top of the slots. At least they had a lot of machines with different values.
The Ugly: So, for some, this isn't so bad. But I had no idea that Dejope was a dry casino. I had hoped to use my $10 Grill card from the Groupon towards after dinner drinks (the cousins and I went out for dinner beforehand). Instead, alcoholic drinks aren't served there, non-alcoholic drinks are free, and nobody wanted any more dinner or dessert since we had just come from a restaurant. In Madison of all cities, not having even beer or wine was a let down. Overall, I don't like slot machines and can find better things to waste my money on. Maybe I'll play those little slot games they have at some bars. Then I could have beer while losing my money. Don't be too hard on the staff, though, they were very helpful.
