This is just a dog track. Not much more to say, the only casino besides charles town without smoking. Table Games are a joke as they close early when you're down.

I don't really play slots much, but the variety of games is limited and the slots appeared very tight. I have spent some time in the poker room on several trips, and found it to be OK, not great but not terrible either. My biggest problem with this casino is with the table games. It is essentially impossible to find a blackjack table at night, unless you want to play $25 min. They have 2 crap tables, one of which is usually closed. I have been on a completely full craps table that they decided to close at 2AM, leaving you no craps options as the other table was full with people waiting.
The food options are very limited. The French Quarter has good meals off the menu (but pricey), but the seafood buffet was one star at best (can you imagine having a seafood buffet without offering tarter sauce?). The First Turn restaurant has spotty food - some good, some embarassingly bad. I had the "Turkey/Bacon Club" on our last trip. It had one thin slice of tomato, cut in half with one half on each side of a sub roll, one slice of cheese, one lettuce leaf on each side of the sub, and (count it) one slice of bacon. It was a joke.
The whole place seems to be just like what you would expect if your state government was running the business - not customer oriented, not profit motivated, and not up to the standards of "real" casino companies.
I used to go because they reliably had $5 craps, but now they have decided to start with a $10 game and only open the $5 game later. I doubt I will ever make the drive to play there again...

I have been to this establishment several times. I think when it was just dog racing it was pretty good. Since the new casino went in at first it was ok but now you cant hit the slots. Been there 4 or 5 times never saw a jackpot hit an any slot machine. Been to Tahoe Vegas etc always hit a coupla times, these machines never pay anything worst I have ever seen. Hotel is noisy paper thin walls. Save your time and money. No free drinks (not giving a dollar tip for a small soda). I'd rather go to Vegas. I gave the slots 1 because there isn't a zero minus.

We checked in for a 3 day stay on a package from the casino. First of all when i made the reservation nothing was said about a 50.00 a night incidentals charge, really they have my credit card. I said ok i would pay that in cash and they could give that back to me at check, so the money would not be a charge on my card. Well get this they don't take CASH. Really a casino hotel that doesn't take cash. You can't even pay for your room with cash. So we decided to get on our bank online and move some money around i ask to use the business center for online access the women says well u need a room key, well cant get a room cause we are not checked in. Ok pissed now got in our stuff off the cart got my laptop out set in lobby hooked up everything and moved some cash and checked in. Front desk not at all helpful more like they are better than u. Rooms nice and safe in room, walls thin, people in hotel as staff were nice except front staff. Casino ok slots TIGHT did i say TTTTTTTight, table games good nice dealers BUT if they are going to be open 24 hours the tables need to be manned we stayed there because we could gamble off times when they were not that busy Wrong only 1 blackjack table open late, staff friendly, big poker room, nice dog race viewing. All in all ok but they need to work on their people skills and open some more table games, I think we will just go back to comfort inn they know how to treat people, and we can ride the shuttle.

First of all I have been visiting tristate for over 5 years now, way before the table games and poker. I am by no means a regular but go about 2 times every 3 months.I go now mainly to play poker. This past weekend(nov. 13-15 2010) I had 3 days off from work and decided to stay in the new hotel for the first time. I usually stay at the sleep inn down the road. The rate I recieved for sat. night wasn't bad, with my players card it was $129. Okay I finish gambling about 1:30 and go to the room. Get ready for bed and once I turn everthing off I'm laying there and keep hearing this noise. After a minute or two I realize that I am actually hearing one of my neighbors snoring! It's impossible to sleep with this noise so I have to revert to keeping the air conditioner on to block this out. So I am freezing now but atleast it blocks out the annoying noise. When I finally do fall asleep the fire alarm goes off at 3 am. It stays on for about 3 minutes and then goes off. Okay fall asleep again and the fire alarm goes off again! I call downstairs and ask them if we should leave the room and they state that they aren't for sure but I shouldn't be alarmed! Wow... Okay, fall asleep again and in the morning I am awaken by very loud repetitive crashing noises. My fiance runs over to the window to see what this was and it's the garbage truck getting the garbage. I am on the top floor of the hotel and it sounds like this guy just ran his truck into my room. So long story short, this hotel is the worst insulated hotel I believe I have ever stayed at, constant noises...Okay, so the next day I actually call down stairs and ask to add another night to the stay. I figured it would be the same $129 but to my suprise the desk attendant informs me that I am actually getting a lower rate to $99 for the second night. So okay she tells me that its added to the computer and everything is good. Late in the night on my second day I go downstairs to inquire about late check out. I am told that its free until 2 pm and anything after that I will have to pay half of my room rate. So I ask the lady can I check out around 9 or 10 pm and still pay half rate. She says of course, tells me its going to be $50 and starts putting this into the computer. So okay I think everything is ok and go to bed. Wake up the next morning with the bill under my door. I look at it and it has me at $129 for both of my nights and no charge for late checkout. I didn't think it was a big deal and calmly went down stairs to get things straightened out. I get to the front desk and the main hotel manager is there. I tell her the rate is wrong and she gives me a disgusted look like I shouldn't have said anything but obliges and changes the rate. She has to get help from the other young girl at the desk for subtracting the $30, they even have to break out a hand held calculator. Again I am very calm and have no reason to be rude and then I proceed to ask her about the late checkout. She looks at me dumbfounded and then I tell her what the lady told me the night before. Before I can even get it all out she actually starts yelling at me. Telling me that what I said is crazy and there is no way she could do that and I will have to pay the full amount. I mean she is screaming at me and I haven't even had a chance to respond yet. I kinda get the feeling that this was in the computer and she seen this and changed it herself. She even tried to increase my rate. So I do get smart with her and tell her to forget it and I will check out right then. This is at 12 pm, she costs the casino 8 or 9 hours of my action. She then proceeds to berate me and tell me this is how things go sometimes at "these" type of places. Like I have never been out of my house! I have stayed at 4 different hotels in Vegas and stayed a couple of times at the Hard Rock in Tampa. I just recently had my rooms comped a the Aria this summer and was treated like a king and now I am getting berated at some rinky dink casino in West Virginia. So as long as this manager still works at the hotel I will no longer be staying there. I will continue to stay at the Sleep Inn down the road where I have always been treated well and known by my first name...

POKER ROOM Review
I have loved playing poker here since the first night it opened. The softest 1/2 2/5 nl games that any nit can beat. Its fun and definately a welcome break from online play but this room does have its problems. The number one problem is the regulars. They get what they want, when they want it.I know you have to treat these people good but they do this very openly. I have seen rulings go in favor of the reg and then when the same issue comes up for an out of towner against a regular its still ruled in favor of the regular. I have heard on two occasions a dealer rant about someone "pissing" him off and he brags about he can turn things around whenever he wants(talking about fixing the deck I presume). And forget about any of the promotions unless you are a regular. They "randomly" give away tournament tickets sometimes and I have actually seen them set up the drawing cards when they didn't think anyone could see. Also a recent incident this weekend spotlighted their weakness in the security department. Had a drunken frat boy go crazy at about 2 am. They should have cut him off of the alcohol earlier but they let it go too long. This guy's screaming stops the action at all the tables and finally the floor man "asks" him nicely to leave. At this point it shouldn't have been asked. He eventually starts cursing at people and calling them outside. Two security guards come and are just standing there. It actually got to the point where this man should have been physically taken outside but it didn't look like the guards had the guts to make that call. One of them was a woman... The service for drinks is spotty but actually is better than some casinos.
