For the "little" people with so much money, to come to CharlesTown to play the slots is NOW getting BAD!! We were there Friday night, all we can play is the quarter machines, we couldn't get anything. Although we could hear bells ringing, this was coming from the DOLLAR AND FIVE DOLLAR MACHINES!!
Loosen up some on us, my husband and I drive 150 miles one way to have some enjoyment, because Virginia does not have slots. He is handicapped and enjoys getting out. This is HIS enjoyment and some where along the way, money is being taken and nothing given back. ( I know this is called GAMBLING, but at least, you could GIVE A LITTLE).
We went into the casino at approximately 4 p.m. and left at 7 p.m. with nothing but disappointment. I loved the OLD SLOT MACHINES, now you are putting all the new ones in and they DON'T PAY OFF!. GET REAL, FOLKES, GIVE US OLDER PEOPLE A BREAK. GO BACK TO PAYING OFF ON THE QUARTER AND FIFTY CENT MACHINES.
I live only 15 minutes away from this casino so I am able to go often, thus, I recently became a black card member in their player's choice program. This is a joke. All this means is that I have lost a lot of money. Their free slot play given each month is a joke. It seems that the more you go and gamble, they give you less each month.
I can wait in line just like everyone else and their special parking area is no big deal. In fact one night I parked there a car was parked in the driving lane not a parking space blocking the way to get down that lane. I informed the security guard about it when we walked into the casino and he could care less. Never did anything about it. That seems to be the way of most of their employees -- they could care less, are rude and lazy.
If you have a problem with a machine you have to wait forever or go try to track down a floor attendant. They definitely need to hire more employees - hopefully with better training and a better attitude.
The food is horrible and too expensive. During the weekdays very few of their food outlets are open. Scanning your player's card at the kiosk is a joke also. Big deal - you get either 2 or 5 extra entries in the drawings.
Talk to any of the regulars and they will tell you that the machines are tight. Your money won't last long at this place. Their slot machines are boring compared to some of the other casinos I have been to - they don't have the high graphics, interacting machines that a lot of other casinos have. Also, many of their slot machines throughout the casino at any given time are not in working condition.
We have started to drive to the Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Pennsylvania....Even though this is owned by the same company as Charles Town Races & Slots there is no comparison. Hollywood in Pennsylvania is a much more pleasant, fun experience, your money goes a lot farther, their player card comps are very good. We will make that 2-hour drive anytime over a 15-minute drive to Charles Town Races & Slots. Charles Town Races & Slots needs to wake up and listen to their patrons.
This place is about 45 minutes away and it really use to be a good spot. Over the years the atmosphere and ciientele has changed dramatically. Slot use to be a lot looser but in the past 3-5 years they are extremely tight, though I have seen the machines pay in the 2,000 to 4,000 range. My wife and I were going to do the buffet but it reminder me of the one Chevy Chase movie so we waited until we got home. BTW, I like to smoke my cigars there. All in alll I prefer going the extra distance and going to one in PA or AC.
I have been going to charlestown before they had slots for the horse racing. When slots were introduced there were many visits where I actually came close to breaking even, or even leaving a winner. Over the years this has all changed.
I would venture to say basically nobody can now leave this casino without a one hundred percent loss of their intended gambling funds time and time again. The machines are now so tight it would be cheaper to just send them a donation and save the expense of traveling there.
On an annual basis I go to casinos at dover, atlantic city, foxwoods, reno, lake tahoe, and las vegas none of which are anywhere as close to being as tight as charlestown. Also the smoking at charlestown is so bad you also will lose a few years of your lifetime as well as your money! Avoid this casino!
Unless you want to be treated badly by other guests and employees I'd suggest you not go.
There are rude people everywhere being loud and obnoxious. They start drama with other guests and hold up the lines in the restaurants because they want free food.
Their security sucks because they never seem to tell these rude people to settle down.
