Wow I love the way losers vent. So i visited this Casino recently because i had to know if it was really this bad.
Overall I personally found this place to be extremely well run.
Slots were definitely paying off when I was there. I was there for about 6 hours. Definitely saw many many jackpots going off.
Slot Attendants as they call them were walking around ready to help with a smile. They were very busy running around paying out all the jackpots I saw. However, when I stopped one to ask a question he was very friendly. I also saw several managers on the floor. Several asked me if i was enjoying myself. I stopped one young lady who said she was a slot floor manger and I asked her all about the casino as this was my first visit. She was very informative. I asked about the themed games like Wheel of Fortune and Sex in the City. She said they do want them, however, due to their higher tax rate they pay and royalty fees those games aren't profitable. It is a business people. They do need to put profitable games on their floor. Very pleasant and was very happy to help me.
I asked several guests I saw throughout the day how they liked it. I got no complaints and not one of them won a huge jackpot.
The Buffet I thought was decent for the price. I had several helpings of the Mac and cheese, sushi and creme brûlée.
Staff there was very pleasant.
I played on and off all day sticking to two machines and won many times throughout my day. No big wins but I did leave over $100 ahead. Maybe because I was smart enough to stick to two machines instead of hopping around to all different ones.
I cashed my ticket at a ticket redemption machine.
I found the casino cleaner then any other I've ever visited. I had many employees talk to me. Maybe because I'm pleasant myself. Reading some of these posts I wouldn't want to talk to any of you negative soar losers either.
Overall, I didn't see any of the above problems. Sounds like a lot of sore losers. I'd say go in realistic. Expecting to lose but have fun and you won't be disapointed. As far as the comments about people spending life's savings and being in wheelchairs and on oxygen tanks.....that's their own faults. They shouldn't be in there if they can't afford it. Or, if their health is an issue. I for one will go back. Because I had a great time. Nope I didn't get rich. What a shame I guess I'll have to keep working for my money and go to Charles Town for fun. Oh and I did ask about the Facebook photos. They have to get approval from
The winner and they'll post ANY winner on there. So throw your theory in the garbage. I also had to laugh at the theory that they plant people to play. That's hysterical.

Hysterical? Is it also hysterical that they pay people like you to post these comments to try and change the perception?
Penn National has a reputation of spending big bucks to defend against any kind of competition that might even threaten them in the least. For example, look at the money they spent to try and stop Arundel Mills from getting operational!
By the way, Arundel Mills opens soon, maybe Penn National should focus on what it will do then!

Obviously posted by another Charles Town casino employee. They've been doing it (planting favorable reviews) since they went full casino.

I do not know what Charles Town you were playing at, but the one I have gone to since it was a tent is not the one you described. I have spent many hours there in the last 2 years and have seen very few jackpot payouts. As the penny slots have low payouts they have taken out many of the 50 cent machines. I have seen the payout percentages drop on the 50 cent and $1 machines. The comps are also bad and have been reduced and free play is hard to come by. I have asked many times of the staff as to what the current payout odd are and in every the State Gaming Commission in their offices and the casino has no control over the payout percentages. Also when machines are turned off that is also done remotely by the Gaming Commission. If my internet research is correct Charles Town has the lowest payout percentage of all the casinos in PA, DE NJ and WV.

Drinks are also weak which they also blame on the State liquor laws.

Bottom line Charles Town is typical of every Penn National I have gone to, low payout percentage, few slot attendants, dirty restrooms and generally no respect for the slot players. Table games are beyond my budget as a retiree on a fixed income. Unlike the players that can sit at a $25.00 minimum or the $100.00 tables no less the $25.00 slots

They have forgotten about the players that allowed them to grow and now try to cater to, and act like, a high end Vegas Casino. You want our business treat us on fixed budgets and we will return. The new Maryland Casino is a lot busier any time of day and payouts are better. If the other planned Maryland Casinos follow in the steps of Maryland Live Charles Town will only be frequented by local high end income earners from DC and VA at the table games and arranged bus tours of us retirees.

Management should wake up and remember where they are located and take into consideration the people that allowed them to survive when they first opened.

Yes you are right they may have good friendly service. Pay out on slots sucks I have been going thr for many years payouts were good 5 years ago since then they only taking $. They pay new ppl when they go so you can go back and give them everything back. Since October of lady year I'm not exaggerating I have put 120,000.00 in slots very small jackpots here n there nada winnings. I went one weekend to AC with 10k came back with 50k. That's the difference. I'm sorry Hollywood casino you won't see my money anymore.

I live about 4 miles from Charles Town Races and Slots and don't go there because the payout is so terrible and table minimums are so high. In fact, I got back from Vegas 9 days ago and can't understand how Charles Town thinks they're going to pay off all of the renovation they've recently done by having $10 minimum BlackJack, Pai Gow, etc tables, then raise the stakes to $25 minimum when people start winning. That's a bunch of bull raising the stakes like that. To the Management of Charles Town...Wake Up, idiots. You want to start bringing in money? Lower your minimums to $5 tables like most Vegas casinos. Hell, even the "High End" casinos in Vegas like MGM, Bellagio, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, etc ALL have $5 minimum tables and those tables were always filled to include people waiting on the sidelines for the next available seat. You think you can repay your renovation debt by having these $10 and $25 minimum tables? I walked into Charles Town Races and Slots today and most of your $25 tables were empty. Your dealers and staff were twiddling their thumbs not bringing in a dime, only costing you money through labor costs. Not to mention, the morale of those employees being low because they make most of their money off of tips. No Players means No Tips for the Dealers or Waitresses, thus low employee moral. And don't forget the Slot Players. The Slots are your biggest source of income but by having a payout of what seems to be in the %90-92 percentile return for your players, hell, even the Indian Reservations across the country have better payouts than CT Races and Slots slot machines. Wake Up Charles Town Management. Or risk losing long time dedicated and valuable customers like me. I won't even play your slots anymore. About the only thing my wife and I will come there for now is the Epic Buffet and occasionally, I play some real table Poker. That's about it. Lower your limits and increase the payout percentage!
