I never knew this place changed names (used to be Northern Lights Casino or something like that) until New Year's Day when I stopped by with my wife on our way to Deception Pass (another review in itself - google it for information and pictures!). We head there about two or three times a year and always stop in here...
Anyways, the staff here are some of the best; always helpful, always smiling, and very friendly. Whether a cashier, slot attendant, waitress or security... all quite pleasant.
They have an excellent variety of slot machines here and combined with their rewards program, makes this place a sure winner.
The hotel got a rating of 1 as there is none; they do, however, have what appears to be a "full-service" campground. That would be nice in the summer for a night or two as there are a lot of activities to do in the area!
A plus for this casino is the ladies running the Keno room - they are a very nice, friendly and very helpful to the customers whether new at playing Keno or the old timers.
Another plus is that the casino seems to get in new slot machines on a regular basis almost monthly.
If I'm traveling between Anacortes and Mount Vernon, I stop here for a while. They don't have a lot of slots and many of them are older and the screens are fuzzy, plus the screens are often out of calibration.
In general I get the feeling they aren't making a lot of money and can't keep up with maintenance, which might be considered a good thing in a Casino but I don 't win any more or less than I do anywhere else! However, the food is generally quite good, they have a delicious and cheap buffet and the restaurant atmosphere is very nice. I had chicken strips at the slot I was playing tonight (hot machine, didn't want to leave it!) and those chicken strips were the best I've ever had! I haven't noticed those "new" slot machines that someone else mentioned.
