The casino at the moment has a lot going against it. First off the table game minimums are too high. The vast majority of times the tables are all either $25 or $50, with a $2000 max bet, and the $50 tables have been mostly empty. Especially the ones on the side of the casino opposite the garage, where dealers were standing bored at half the tables.

The few times they had $15 tables, they were all full with people waiting to sit. The one time I was able to play at a $15 table, they upped the minimum to $25 about 40 minutes later, which emptied the table. To make matters worse the dealers are very inexperienced. Players were constantly correcting the dealers, sometimes to let them know that the player busted. The dealers were also very slow, both in dealing and paying out. Better dealers, would mean faster players and should allow the minimums to be lower.

Next is video poker and slots. The variety seemed pretty good. I go to Vegas quite regularly, and didn't recognize many of the machines here. While the variety is high, the payouts looked to be very tight, I didn't see that many people hitting jackpots. The first week, the number of slot players was pretty high, but now with the exception of the poker machines you might see two players in each isle of 8 machines.

The players club is lame. I did the same amount of gambling over two weekends that I do on a typical 4 day trip to Vegas. In Vegas I would rack up at least half the points needed to get to the 2nd tier of the players club, while at Hollywood I am barely over 10%. At Vegas I would have already been comped $15, and have gotten at least two $25 or $50 free plays, but in Columbus I am sitting at around $0.83, and no free-play, part of this is because the machines stop detecting the player's card during play, which means if you aren't paying attention your bets stop being tracked until you remove and re-insert. The other part is because the points go up a lot slower.

Next is the food. The buffet looks nice, but the food quality has been inconsistent. The first week they kept running out of food, but at least the food was good. Later trips the food has declined, and a few items especially the ribs and Buffalo Wings on the weekend were lukewarm. The lunch price at $13.99 is about the same as casinos outside of Vegas, dinner at $19.99 Sun-Thursday is a bit high, and $24.99 Friday and Saturday is far too high.

The Take-2-Grill is not worth it. Prices weren't too bad, but the food was bland, and it took far too long to get your food. There was only 5 people waiting for food, and it took over 15 minutes to get my food.

Overall the casino would do well of replacing the current management with someone from Vegas, and temporarily moving some experienced dealers from other casinos to Columbus, and move the local dealers to other casinos, until the local dealers get more experience. A few novice dealers are tolerable, but not 80% or more.

Hopefully it improves, but if things stay the same, I'll head for the Casinos in Indiana or West Virginia, for a quick one day excursion, and wait until my Vegas vacations to gamble big.
