These reviews say a lot. We just took a trip to Turnong Stone for the first time and stopped at Saratoga on the way home, $1000 richer. Since we live almost as far away from Saratoga as Mohawk Casino, I think we will honk twice about where to go. Btw, the food is better at Saratoga!
I've been to this casino countless times since it's just down the road from my home. I would guess that the slot machines only pay 85% which is probably the state minimum. Needless to say, I do not play slots. They used to pay a much higher percentage a few years ago, but no more. There aren't enough blackjack tables and many tables are closed during daytime hours during the week. I believe that dealers have been fired for little or any reason and as such there is a revolving door policy. Dealers are paid the same as waitresses: $4.50 per hour and they depend on tips yet still make inadequate wages. The overall attitude of dealers and staff is good. Since there are hardly any jobs in this area anyone who has a job, any job, is lucky to be working. All in all, the odds of winning at blackjack are better than any of the other nearby casinos in Canada as these are operated by the Canadian government except for Indian casinos. The closest Canadian Indian casino is Casino-Rama north of Toronto which stands on soft 17. The government operated casinos such as those in Montreal, Gatineau and Gananoque hit soft seventeen and use 8 decks instead of 6. Many patrons come from as far as Ottawa and Montreal to play blackjack. The Canadian casino employees are unionized and get paid in the area of $25 an hour which is a very good living wage but tips are either limited or non-existent. The dealers are not overly friendly. Reason why I much prefer to play at our nearby Akwesasne Mohawk Casino which is not brightly lit with lots of neon signs nor does it contain anything fancy but nonetheless it is finally beginning to look like a casino.
There are 4 restaurants at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino. The buffet closes at 9pm. One other called 'Sticks' now only offers a reduced menu. The fancy restaurant also closes too early at 9pm. The other is a fast food restaurant which offers pizza, sandwiches, burgers, etc. Nothing real special but adequate. That's it in a nutshell.
Very friendly people, the staff are great, lots of slot machines, but they have them set at suck mode. Very hard to win any money.I live in Cornwall, Ont. just over the border so I go to the Casino a couple of times a month. I have yet to win much money. I wish they would change their machines, loosen them a bit so people can win a little. All I can say is be prepared to spend money, and spend it fast.
Very friendly people & a good variety of slot machines, although they don't pay very much!!!
The Native Harvest restaurant leaves much to be desired! The processing of clients is poor as well as the quality of this buffet!! A few examples: rotten tomatoes, greasy chicken, lousy pizza (now cut in small pieces instead of the "normal way" of cutting them), no desert spoons (using soup spoons for desert???), variety of deserts is only "fair."
Much improvement is required in this restaurant to bring it to a more acceptable level. In all, it is a fun place to be!
The only good thing about this casino is the food, as far as the slot machines, very poor, you cant win, you could go night after night and not win, there are a lot of complaints from other gamblers that you cant win. It's a good place if you want to throw money away because as far as playing slots, it's a big waste of time and money. There is no entertainment in it because your money goes so quick, whether its a 25 cent bet or a 10 dollar bet.
