To me, the Venetian is what is wrong with Las Vegas today. A huge, themed casino with no character, just fancy shmancy buildings and menus. For the price, everything is overrated. I admit that I don't like the newer huge casinos, especially those with the phony themes like the Venetian. If you like this kind of thing then this place and casinos like Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, New York, New York, Luxor, etc., are for you.
They're just not for me. The gaming, staff, food, everything, is mediocre and the prices are high.
We visited the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino one time to take advantage of a coupon for free ecash when signing up for a player's card. This place was so big we got lost looking for the player's club. The canal shops looked interesting but expensive. Like other strip casinos, it was very crowded.
