It may be old but the place plays well and has a lot of fun machines to play. Rooms are fine for the money, clean and comfortable. The food is average but being downtown you have a choice of many places to go to. And being downtown is a fun place to be at night....lots going on. ]]> Sat, 29 Mar 2014 12:59:46 +0000 <![CDATA[Plaza Hotel & Casino: end up at Plaza]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/nevada/plaza-hotel-a-casino.html/discussions/2506780 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/nevada/plaza-hotel-a-casino.html/discussions/2506780 Great location at the end of Fremont Street experience. The Plaza has full pay video poker and good comps to go with them. Although the best thing about your room will be that it is comped, not much else. They have the mayors restaurant, 'Oscars' and some other good food options. They now have an E poker room with a few electronic tables, but I did not see any players there. ]]> Thu, 16 Jan 2014 13:28:50 +0000 <![CDATA[Plaza Hotel & Casino: Renovated Rooms Nice, but Poor Customer Service]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/nevada/plaza-hotel-a-casino.html/discussions/2505298 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/nevada/plaza-hotel-a-casino.html/discussions/2505298 I was recently staying in downtown Las Vegas and since I had received an offer for a free nights from the renovated Plaza I wanted to check out the changes and see how accessible the rooms were since I am happen to be paralyzed and in a wheelchair. I had stayed there several times prior to the renovations and was always satisfied. Unfortunately, it turned into into an aggravating hassle simply requesting to see one of the new rooms. I intentionally went to the Front Desk during a weekday afternoon when no other customers were at the counter. I was disappointed none of the three front desk personnel stepped out behind the counter to assist me and forced me to try to communicate with them from the high counter which is not wheelchair friendly. I showed the front desk my offer for the free room nights and explained that I was not interested in checking in, but I simply wanted to see one of the renovated wheelchair accessible rooms. None of the three girls looked very busy, but nevertheless they informed me they could not show me a room. I then asked if they could have a bellman show me a room and was told no. So I countered by suggesting they might call a security guard to show me a room and again they refused. So I again showed them my offer and suggested they check with casino marketing. But they said I would have to go speak with them myself -- which I knew would involve pushing my wheelchair a long way on the new carpeting. I suggested it might make more sense if they called Casino Marketing on the telephone and have someone come to speak with me, but again these three front desk clerks refused to show even a modicum of basic customer service skill. I finally made it down to the Casino Marketing office and was treated like a human being, but by then I was already of the mindset that my friends and I probably would not be giving the Plaza any business in the near future. When I returned home, I took the time and effort to craft a detailed two-page summary of my observations from my visit. I mailed one copy to the Director of Operations and one copy to the General Manager. But after more than two months I have received no reply or acknowledgement whatsoever -- even though I provided my Player's Club #, home address, home phone and e-mail. Customer Service can make or break a hotel for me and in the case of the Plaza, it was definitely a break. I do not anticipate returning. ]]> Thu, 01 Mar 2012 00:50:48 +0000 <![CDATA[Plaza Hotel & Casino: One Of Our Favorites]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/nevada/plaza-hotel-a-casino.html/discussions/2504940 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/nevada/plaza-hotel-a-casino.html/discussions/2504940 The Plaza is great. And it's even better now since they bought all the fixtures for another casino that got caught in the recession and had to auction their belongings before ever opening. The Plaza bought more than any other casino which included most of their interior room decor, beds, etc. They also remodeled most of the casino too. So now, The Plaza looks like one of those fancy shmancy strip hotels with much lower prices and located downtown. They have everything you want in a casino and you can see the other side of the casino too! In other words, not too big. Their food is good and they have recently opened a Hash House A Go Go restaurant which is probably the best breakfast you'll ever have anywhere. You should go there just to eat. (By the way, you can also find a Hash House A Go Go at Imperial Palace and there is a stand alone one located in the 6600 block or west Sahara). I don't know how anybody could not like the Plaza. ]]> Wed, 07 Dec 2011 06:17:36 +0000 <![CDATA[Plaza Hotel & Casino: Pretty dirty.]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/nevada/plaza-hotel-a-casino.html/discussions/2504705 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/nevada/plaza-hotel-a-casino.html/discussions/2504705 I used to work at the Plaza when it first opened. It was clean and nice, but since then, it has deteriorated considerably. I feel badly that they have allowed it to go downhill. ]]> Fri, 28 Oct 2011 19:35:02 +0000 <![CDATA[Plaza Hotel & Casino: Plaza Hotel & Casino]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/nevada/plaza-hotel-a-casino.html/discussions/2504679 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/nevada/plaza-hotel-a-casino.html/discussions/2504679 The Plaza Hotel & Casino is located at the far end of the Fremont Experience. My buddies and I are all middle-aged low rollers who take a March Madness trip to Vegas every....uh......March. We always stay downtown and for several of those years we've stayed at the Plaza. So we ain't expecting Bellagio.

But never again after our last trip. When we arrived we arranged for the casino rate with the poker room manager. After logging enough hours and getting the slip signed, I went to check out and had to haggle with the desk clerk for 30 minutes because "the code is wrong". And this is my fault how? The other guys checked out separately, had arguments of shorter duration, and we all ended up with different room rates(?).

One night at the blackjack table, the autoshuffler broke and the dealer just sat there for 20 minutes waiting for somebody to tell him what to do. Didn't call the pit boss, didn't start hand shuffling, nothing. Just sat there with his arms folded.

The hotel room itself wasn't terrible, but to get ice......ON A THURSDAY MORNING, mind you.....I had to go to four different floors to find an operational ice machine.

On a positive note, the cocktails come quickly at the tables, and I'll always love the craps games at the Plaza for the rowdy, fun-loving customers. But stay there.....never.

<![CDATA[Plaza Hotel & Casino: Very affordable place to stay]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/nevada/plaza-hotel-a-casino.html/discussions/2502170 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/nevada/plaza-hotel-a-casino.html/discussions/2502170 This is not a top of the range hotel by any means but we found our room clean and comfortable. We requested a hairdryer and an extra chair which were provided promptly. We were in the South Tower and had a good view of the strip in the distance. There are 6 elevators servicing the South Tower and we never waited more than 30 seconds for one.

The pool area was nice and quiet (in September) and there are tennis courts and a small gym which are free to hotel guests.

There is a McDonald's and a Subway on the ground floor along with the $7.77 buffet (not very many choices but what do you expect for the price!) and a Sports Bar on the 1st floor. There is also a Bingo parlour.

We found the cocktail waitress service in the casino good and the stage within the casino had a group playing on it at the weekends which gave the casino a good atmosphere.

We enjoyed staying Downtown for a change and we are going back to the Plaza for another 2 weeks in May this year. ]]>

The video poker in quarters have been good to us.

Buffet is basic but the food is always fresh. The rooms are clean, and they have added a new lounge with stage for shows. Need a host ask for Doug Clark! ]]>
