If this casino wants to succeed downtown, it needs to work harder. The video poker pay tables don't even compare to the rest of downtown. Especially because it is kind of out of the way. It is a block off Fremont Street almost behind The Fremont. No one is going to walk back there for bad pay tables.
The table games were okay. I didn't notice any 6-5 blackjack which has become so prevalent around Vegas. The casino's player's club seemed mediocre at first glance. And they have a different player's club program than the other casinos owned by the Fifth Street Gaming (and both are called My Points).
There really wasn't any excitement here especially compared with the other downtown casinos. I probably wouldn't go seeking out the place.
The Downtown Grand is one of nicer properties Downtown. The hotel rooms are modern, clean, and well appointed. Room comps are earned rather easily. Table limits start at $5 most nights, and all the major games are dealt. The restaurants on property are good (not great) and offer good moderately priced menus. Marketing at this property for some reason moves at a snails pace; monthly mailers arrive about the 10th-15th of the month. Overall, a good place to check out when Downtown.
Over the past decade, Downtown Las Vegas has been experiencing a cultural shift. The district is attracting cutting edge corporations, music festival crowds, upscale Las Vegas locals and visitors who want experience the “real” Las Vegas.
There’s only one hotel in Downtown that echoes this movement – The Downtown Grand. Their modern rooms and suites feel center-Strip, but the vibe and price is distinctly Downtown. Take their award-winning industrial-chic casino for a ride. Elevate the party upstairs to the grandest pool deck, the Citrus Grand Pool Deck. Enjoy the tastes and tunes of Americana at Freedom Beat, Pizza Rock or Triple George Grill restaurants.
Downtown Grand presents an atmosphere that invites locals to cut loose and visitors to be liberated from the Strip. Whether it’s 3rd Street, Fremont Street, walkable bars and nightlife, or the occasional music festival, Downtown Las Vegas is nonstop fun. Decidedly off-Strip, it’s the scene for an affordable, spontaneous, laidback adventure. It is a unique combination of offbeat attractions, neon cityscape and urban energy. It’s this spirit that inspires the Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino.

I like everything about Downtown Grand. I especially like the friendly dealers and the cleanliness of the entire casino.
I like the newness of everything. They are too inconsistent with their vp tables. They are up right now. Players club seems to be inconsistent with offers. Bartender very personable, make playing enjoyable. Deli closed so food service is inconsistent.
Like the previous posters said the vp tables are below all the downtown casinos. Rooms are very nice. Pool areas attractive but in late May closing at 7pm? Bartenders friendly and CW's good. Free coffee in the morning very good. Small attractive exercise room. I was lucky and won there. It's an attractive place.
