This casino is going down hill. It is getting really tight on giving out free play/ room comps. The customer service, is far from them being nice to their guests. The machines are also getting tighter, for the money that you put in there. I play quarters, and ought of 30 spins, I got a 2 coin return.
The front bar has the same old deadbeat drunks sitting and not playing. maybe a quarter (25 cents) every hr. or so. The fat old man usually with a red cap on and his friend with his beer in a koozie. The bartenders cater to them, free beer haven't seen either one of these men leave a tip yet. They give them free comps for meals and maybe they might have spent $10 in 10 hrs. The red cap man even got his last meal in a bag to go later that night. Waved his card at the bartender and said comp, comp, comp. It was put right on there, I saw all of this myself. But if I spend 3 or 4 hundred dollars you don't have enough for one buffet? They sit and hold the same seats every week and usually every day, the first 2 seats on the end by the jackpot sign on the side by hotel entrance. One had the same color card as mine, but bartender said "he is a premier member". Well,m what am I? At least I tip and spend quite a bit of money.

I just used my buy one get one free buffet coupon in the 2010 American Casino guide at the Hollywood. What a mistake!
We were staying at another property and went to eat and play slots a while. We paid for one buffet and got the other free although I paid $2 more than the person in front of me paid for his. Well, when I went to the buffet, I saw sushi and thought this was great. However, they had it in an enclosed area so I waited for someone to serve me. After 5 minutes and 3 of us waiting, I finally got the server who was cutting prime rib to come over. Then, I also got a slice of prime rib. I put a piece of sushi in my mouth and was shocked to find that I could not bite through it. I had to spit it out and cut it with a knife. After trying to chew it, I gave up. It was like a rock. I hit it on my plate and not one grain of rice came off. Apparently, it had sat all day if not longer and was dried out. I did take it up and ask the cook for the area who had now appeared when it was made. Being Oriental, he acted like he didn't understand English and only mumbled some words and turned and went back in the back. Later, another cook joined him and I saw them take a piece of sushi and feel it. It was still out when I left!
I then tried to cut the prime rib and found I could not cut it. I asked the waitress for a sharp knife and did manage to cut it. However, chewing it was not doing any good. And did I mention that the horseradish sauce was really sour cream. Someone had switched the spoons.
I gave up on this plate and tried fried chicken and a baked potato. However, I noticed a pattern with all the food, it seemed dehydrated like it had been sitting for hours. The fried chicken was so dried out that it came away from the bone in one piece and was impossible to chew. The potato was also dried out. I did eat a few boiled shrimp but they had almost no flavor.
I gave up and went to the dessert area. On the top rack, there was two pieces of dark cake and one piece of cheese cake. That was it! There were several pieces of pie and chocolate covered donuts that were like rocks. I tried the cake. Nope! It was too dry to eat. The lady at the next table had the other piece with the same result.
I then asked her about her meal and both her and her husband agreed nothing was worth eating. However, they were staying there and their meal had been free. With that, I got up to leave and the host made the mistake of asking me how my meal was. I told her in all the 25 years I had been visiting casinos, this was the worst buffet ever. She seemed to understand and offered to refund my money which I accepted.
Since we had not eaten and needed to go somewhere else to eat, we did not play any slots which is why I rated everything else a 3. I highly suggest you look at this buffet before you eat there.
When i first started going to Hollywood everything was real nice in 2002. in the past year everything has gone downhill.
The clerks on the first desk are very rude, i've been there almost monthly this past year so this isn't an isolated incident. The last trip i was on 8-21-09 i arrived around. 3:30, bought in suitcases and was told my room wasn't clean, but would go ahead and register me, ask what to do with luggage, this was my problem and the cleaning crew has until 6:00 pm to have room ready, but i could keep checking back.
We take luggage back to car. i check every 20 minutes and finally given a room, we get unpacked (planned to stay 3 nights) ready to go to casino and get call from front desk told we have to move because the carpet is wet. Told person it would take me about 10 min to get repacked. Waited and no one came, called the front was told no one would be coming to move me, i had to come back to the front and get keys for the different room.
When i got to front they acted at first like they didn't know why i was asking to be moved i told her not my request, they told me i couldnt stay in that room with wet carpet. This was such a waste of my time and not my fault.
If the cleaning crew has until 6 to get rooms ready why is checkin 4 pm? After all this someone calls my room and wakes my husband after 10 pm asking if room ok. He plays the slots some, but has a bad back and old neck injury he goes to bed early, he only comes to bring me i usually play all night. You can check how much i play and spend.
The trip before this i had to wait for room, but the only problem i had was with this girl wendy which two previous trips i have ask to make sure i get a room with the big chair and stool due to husband medical problems, he can't stay in bed the whole time. i was told there was no way for her to know what was in a room.
On one trip dealing with her we got room with no chair only the desk type, i came back to front and ask if we could change rooms, we had to take luggage back to car and checking back with front for information from house keeping on a room with a big chair, which took until almost 6 pm.
Any questions you have to the front desk if this isn't their job they don't know where to direct for an answer.? I don't believe this they just are rude. They should go through customer service training. They will not look at the person they are talking with.
The trip we were on 8-21-09 we were kept awake by someone's dog which barked all night. we ask about the hotel allowing animals and were told we are pet friendly, what about people friendly? We can't stay in rooms where dogs have been due to health reasons, are you going to pay medical bills?
I had to go to doctor on return home due this. if you are allowing the dogs to stay, there needs to be a list of rooms which arer people friendly, kept free of dogs.
I like dogs, but can't share a room with dogs. i could go on and on, you need more people working the floor, or change the machines to pay under $1,200 jackpot without having to sit 30 minutes to wait on someone to bring the money.
