Seen a lot of negative remarks about Harrah's Tunica here but most seem to be from first timers who DON'T like the shuttles. Well first off it is what it is. Harrah's (formerly The Grand) is one of three casinos in area owned by CET/Harrah's entertainment conglomerate. I just stayed there in January for a three day junket and had not been there for probably about two years approx. Not much has changed but I don't agree with most on this site. I think if you know the property it has a LOT of amenities and offers gaming that is better than Vegas in some respects. The only negatives I would say is that they have removed a LOT of machines from the second floor. Therefore there is not as much activity upstairs as a couple years ago and the Fieldhouse Sportsbar and restaurant doesn't have near as many people or patrons as they should.......they are missing out for both a relaxed and reasonable experience. (Recent change from Toby Keith's "I Love this Bar and Grill...which didn't last too long) Another change in the buffet after the Paula Deen debacle, it's no longer "named Paula Deen" but seems to have the same or similar food, other than the store out front doesn't have the Paula Deen "stuff". I'm not a slot player but seemed to be ordinary activity to me. Only thing I was told that there were NOT as many of the "current games", whatever that means. Along with the Horseshoe and Tunica Roadhouse, there are 3 casinos owned by CET/Harrahs in the area. Shuttle from Harrah's to Casino Center where Horseshoe and Roadhouse are located runs often until 2am or 3am depending upon day of week. Now two of the bigger hotels for Harrah's, The Terrance and Verandah are about 1/2 mile away as a walk. You could walk but during extreme weather (heat in summer and cold in winter), I would not recommend it. But the shuttle runs often and I have no issues with the hotel shuttle once you are aware of it. Besides, you can strike up a friendly conversation with other patrons on the way; take advantage of southern hospitality. Harrah's property is probably one of the most inclusive of all in Tunica. They have their own golf course (Cottonwood); they have a shooting clays area (Willows); they have a pool (at each hotel or at least Terrance and Casino Hotel); a nice spa that I have used on more than one occasion (Bellisimo's) and a great arcade area for kids to play/day care "so to speak" IF you are one of the lunatics that brings kids to a casino resort or need to drop them off for a bit while you play. In addition EACH of the hotels has their own bar/coffee shop for LIMITED food and service. They are basically open in morning and not too late in day DEPENDING upon traffic. So to say that ALL there is in each of the hotels is the rooms is INCORRECT. Each also have a gift shop. Table gaming....only complaint I have.....and I'm not the only Total Rewards player that does, is they don't give you "crap" for rewards as a table gamer. But the rules themselves are not too bad. They had single deck (no DAS) 3-2 AND 6-5 BJ pays, so beware. Along with double deck (DAS) and higher limits. Also on weekends I saw some of multi-deck shoes also having 6-5 BJ pays which I think is taking TOO much advantage of unknowledgeable players but hey.......casinos didn't grow through smart players, did they? Craps tables seemed to offer plenty of odds; regular tables. And there were also the various poker variation table games. So I think you can have your fill of fun and variety at Harrah's. As to customer service, I have had a better experience than others. I have emailed Total Rewards/Harrah's about problems or discrepancies I have had and they have replied timely and though it took some discussion, more than attempted to resolve my issues by adding points to my card. So to state they are ignoring folks is not true in my experience.

I returned today from a 2-night stay at Harrah's Veranda hotel where we were supposed to be in an "upgraded" room. It was beautiful overlooking a gorgeous swimming pool. The telephone did not work as there was a hole in the wall where the jack should have been so there was no way to call the front desk to let them know that we had no coffee or cups in the room. The pool was not open due to 'it rained this morning so the pool won't be open today.' ? Part of our deal was to be able to go to the comedy club which only has shows Thursday through Sunday and we arrived on Sunday after the last show started. The shuttle drivers told us that the shuttle runs every 10-15 minutes 24 hours a day but when we were ready to leave the casino at 3:00 am we were told that the shuttle would be there at 4:00 am. The explanation we were given was, I swear to you, "yes, the shuttle runs every 10-15 minutes, 24 hours a day until 2:00 am." Clearly, 24-hours-a-day does not mean what it used to... Slots paid NOTHING at Harrahs so we played at Horseshoe and had a good time with exception of the smoke. I will be so happy when the whole world goes smoke free. Paula Deen's Restaurant was excellent. I will not return to Harrah's Tunica hotel or casino again. There are too many other Good choices.

Harrah's Tunica: Never Again

This was the deal breaker for any future trips to Tunica or Harrah's. I used to go to Tunica all the time and stay at Gold Strike. The last time we went there we were not happy for various reasons so we decided to try Harrah's in Tunica. Our hotel was nowhere near the main hotel. The building where they put us was a reasonably clean property but it had no restaurants, no casino, no nothing (other than the room). To get to the hotel we either had to drive or take a shuttle bus. The worst aspect of this is that THEY NEVER TOLD US THIS! When we made our reservations they caused us to believe we were staying at HARRAH'S and talked about all the amenities. The LEAST they could have done was ADMIT that we were staying in some building a mile away from the casino! Since this wasn't the only issue I sent an email to Harrah's when we arrived home explaining all the problems we had there and believe me, there were many in addition to the location of our room. Harrah's NEVER responded. I even sent it a second time with a note telling them I never got a response and that I'd appreciate their at least acknowledging receipt of my email. Nothing. They refuse to admit they even received my message. I have thrown my card away and will never set foot an another Harrah's property. And that includes about 35% of all casinos. Fine by me.

Harrah's Tunica: Had a really good time

I Visited Harrah's in Tunica,MS on Nov 14th on a bus tour with R&M . We were there approx, 4 hours or so. I Had a really good time, as I did in JULY. The time went so quickly. Paula Deen's buffet was wonderful. The gift shop was also a plus. I have never stayed at the hotel, but am sure it is nice. I took away a little bit of their money, so I was happy. A friend won quite a bit and was sorry it was time to go. We will come back.

Harrah's Tunica: Shuttle bus is a deal breaker

When I go to Tunica, I always take my elderly mother. We tried to stay at Harrah's, but she just could not get on and off the bus. I tried to negotiate a deal for a move to the hotel next to the casino but I was told that was reserved for "high roller". Too bad cause we had to move to another property. I like the casino. It's nice and spacious removing that feeling you get in some casinos that someone is sitting in your lap. And the Paula Dean Buffet is tops in Tunica. Only problem is that I can barely walk after I finish.

We stayed in the Veranda building and shuttled to the casino. Probably arrived at the casino in about the same length of time from our room as we would arrive when walking at most attached casinos. From Harrah's, there's a shuttle that runs to three other casinos. The Harrah's casino doesn't have any really good video poker but does have a nice poker room and 3/2 blackjack tables so I was happy. Food was not as good as I expected (I expected more from Paula Deen).

Enjoyed this past week, a trip with my 88 year old dad, 85 year old mom and my sister I took on a comp (through Wojos tours, Wittenberg, WI) for her 60th birthday, the casino is gorgeous, the rooms are very nice and they made sure we got as close as possible being mom had a wheelchair, dad with bad news. We got alot of great comped meals at Paula Deens, especially due to the hospitality (when I got upset over a slot machine and person who sat at the machine I was playing - long story), anyway went down to security and Debra Cuddell, walked with me down to my machine and kept checking to make sure I was ok, checked to see mine and my family play and gave me a dinner comp for us 4 to Paula Deens and then found the rest of my family for a lunch and dinner buffet! One thing I was disappointed in, nobody told us about the 10% payback from our tour or anyone we talked to, and on that Tuesday I believe April 13th, all 4 of us lost alot and got nothing for it :(. I love the way we can now order drinks and we all slept so good, got around so good the bus driver Fredrick Warren was great, who took us to Horseshoe first bus in the morning, he could do a stand up comedian show. Thank you for the opportunity for us all to get together, I am in Wisconsin and my parents and sis live in UP of MI, so it was great. I also recommend internet service should be included in room stay, I did have some problems, and no bar in the bath/shower in Casino tower for my parents to take a shower. Unfortunately all of us game home broke :(. Love that Southern hospitality!

Paula Deen's buffet is good, but not top-notch and I say over-priced. The slots and gaming were fun, but where were all the winners? I saw no one hit a jackpot higher than $500 in the three days we stayed there. For the price, the Terrace hotel was a great value, though our room needed some updating or repair. The pool area was awesome. Didn't mind the shuttle to the casino except for the mosquitoes. The best thing going for Harrah's Tunica is their employees. We were treated well by everyone employee there. And for that alone I recommend a stay here.

The Hotel Room was dirty. I was charged for internet service and the computer system was down for upgrading...so I could not get on but was still charged for it.. and was told that there was nothing that they could do.. I will never return to this place.

It's too bad the Veranda & Terrace hotel buildings are so far away that you need to use their shuttle service.

Be that as it may, the Paula Deen buffet is top notch. On a visit last year, they even had info on how to make cetain dishes for the taking. If you go to Tunica - don't miss this buffet.
