Gave Mystic Lake one more try today. Played 4 card keno. First machine took quite awhile to hit 5 out of 5 on (nickel paid 40 bucks). Machine then died and it took another 45 minutes or so to hit another 5 out 5 for 40 bucks. As I was getting up an older patron next to me was totally disgusted. Told me he put over 200 bucks in his keno machine (non-smoking section), and couldn't hit on anything. I told him the machines have been super tight for awhile. I then proceeded to play another machine in a different area (4 card keno again). Put in over 120 bucks with not one 5 out of 5 hit (I was only playing for 20 cents a pull total). I have given up on Mystic Lake. I've never seen the machines this tight...EVER. Still like the Buffet so I'll enjoy a meal there from time to time. My gambling days at this place are over. Like they say, you can shear a sheep many times, but you can only skin him once. Good Luck if you go....
All I can say is that it's middle of the road. Nothing to write home about. Slots don't pay out very often, and the blackjack tables are so-so. I won more at Treasure Island in Red Wing. Now, if we go, it's for a concert and the buffet. The venue brings in some decent names and there's not a bad seat in the house. The buffet is good, but not great. A solid so-so rating here.
Have a decent player's club - but not the best. Lots of variety of slots, and not very many table games (which I think is because Canterbury has those covered a few miles away). The hotel rooms are the best I've stayed in while at an MN casino. The buffet the first time we got it was spectacular and every time since then we've been very disappointed, especially in the dessert options.
